    Hello,

I currently have a Kona hybrid which has done about 1200 miles. I think the wheels are feeling it a little bit as I have changed all of the drive chain and they fairly knocked about. What are the general recommendations for replacement wheel sets for hybrids?

I was looking at the Shimano R501, and for £75 they look like a deal. I am planning on doing the coast to coast later in the year so they need to be fairly robust and 8 speed compatible.

    Thanks

Not sure of those, but check what hubs they come with, we’ve had a few problems with the new RM series hubs not freewheeling properly, and sometimes slipping under load. They also have their own type of freehub, incompatible with any of the older, more reliable hubs.

My kona smoke has 135mm hub spacing like a mountain bike but those r501 wheels are 130mm I think? Might be worth checking before you buy them.
