    Hi,

Needs to send a bike within the UK. Box is 100x25x170cm.

    Fedex want £140

DPS don’t seem to take packages this size

Parcel force have a lovely article about how to send a bike with a link to book a delivery which then says you package is too big (stop it!)

Please can anyone recommend a service? Is it possible to spend less than £50?

Have a look at Paisley Freight. They specialise in bike deliveries.

I have always used Parcelforce, and then slightly understated the size of the box..

Never had a problem, and have sent over 100 bikes this way..

Yeah, i know its slightly bad. But after speaking with the drivers a load of times, they say that 48L doesn’t really have a size limit, but the website has to have one.
And they really don’t care if its a touch bigger

Paisley for a big box although the last bike I sent went in two boxes that both came in the Parcelforce £10ish category so saved a decent chunk.

On the undersizing, Paisley via whoever they used to courier tried to charge me extra when they said the box was bigger than I stated. Had to get the buyer to send proof to avoid the cost. I had cut down the box to get under their limit but the box had the original dimensions on it so I assume they saw that and didn’t check.

I’ve sent about six bikes in the last year, and Paisley have damaged two and refused to pay out for them.

One they agreed to pay out £50 for, but that they would also need me to pay for shipping it to them for salvage. Shipping was £50…

You don’t actually use Paisley Freight as such, they are just the broker as I understand it. Think it was APC I dropped a bike off with a couple of months ago. Left at the depot at 8am, delivered at lunch time next day.

Sent a bike with Paisley Freight this week – £40, they sub it all to APC. All went well, but the online reviews are very mixed! you can only contact them by email, but they are helpful and respond within a few mins (9am to 5pm – Mon-Fri)

I used Paisley Freight a couple of weeks ago for receiving a bike bought on Pinkbike (I paid, they collected) – absolutely fine and would use again. That said, the sender did a great job of boxing the bike, so there were no damage issues.
