    Hello you
So, I’ve got a chronic health problem which is driving me mad.
10 years (every single day) of head-aches and facial pain due to sinus problems.
NHS has tried everything, operations etc and told me they give up.
I have had to give up my job due to it.
Damp climate definitely makes it worse, ie causes swelling of linings which causes pain. (and a puffy face, hooray)
The only time I have had any relief from it is when I have been abroad to Spain, Italy, Canary Islands, Kamloops in BC. All dry climates.
This seems to be the only option left to me, to go and live in a guaranteed dry climate for a year and see if my body can repair itself.
I have no money and currently no job but I definitely need to do it or I’ll end up in a mental-home, soon.

    SO, what would you do?
Ideally i’ll be able to ride my mountain-bike and ideally have electricity.
My work has always been technical tv post production stuff, so absolutely no use in the real world.
I’m open to all suggestions, anything, as this is now a survival issue.
    Ta

My brother travels a lot. He met a guy last year who has been cycling round the world pretty much indefinitely. He lives on cash in hand jobs and sleeps in a tent. If you want me to get more details on this lifestyle I can ask my brother for more information, I seem to recall he was very interested in the idea of perpetual nomad like lifestyle himself.

Tefl/Tesol teacher and learn the lingo and get a foot in the door of local TV companies.
I’ve been teaching English for 10 years and love it. It’ll not make me a millionaire in sterling, but I do like it.

There’s someone on here who does volunteer work in Ethiopia or you could look at working on a Kibbutz or similar

    Oz outback.

Places like Mt Isa, Alice Springs.

We used to go outside to stand in the first rain of the year, wait a few minutes and be dry again.

As per the post above have you thought about doing a TEFL course and teaching English abroad? Only and idea which may or may not be a good one but plenty of jobs available I believe. I have just completed a TEFL course.

Maybe a bit odd but a friend had extremely similar symptoms to you and he sorted it out after seeing an “alternative dentist”, sounded like proper quackery to me but certainly did the job for him. He also later cut out dairy and wheat from his diet, not sure if the “success” of the dentistry may have been conflated with the new diet but he’s certainly a changed man.

    Thanks for the replies
TEFL is something i’ve wondered about as an option, any idea how long it takes to train and how much will it cost roughly?

I’ve avoided dairy for years as it definitely aggravates my symptoms and I’ve been suspicious about wheat too.
Any more details on the Alt-dentist Bimbler?

PS After finding out about how grim mass-produced milk is from a dairy farmer I found it easier to avoid (Pus percentage allowance anyone? Seriously, go organic with your milk & cheese folks)

I did my TEFL in Manchester over three weeks full time and got 50% off because I was unemployed, so it cost me about 300 quid ten years ago.

    It’s all about the pus.

Re: alt dentist, it was a couple of years ago now but I seem to remember it having something to do with a dead tooth he had which had abcesses which in turn was poisoning one of the bodies systems – can’t remember which. He had the tooth removed and his gums hoovered out a couple of times. He later had all his amalgum fillings taken out.

I’d echo the comment above about diet – doubtless you’ve tried this, but the NHS takes a resolutely conventional (and flawed) approach to this sort of stuff. If you cut sugar out your diet completely (no carbs like pasta, no processed foods and little fruit) I’d be really surprised if you didn’t see a marked improvement.
