How much did you pay for your main bike?

About 2k. Would be about 4k if it was all bought new at retail, but most of my kit was bought as ridden once or twice second hand or unused parts from last year from sponsored riders off of various forums.

Somewhere between £1500/£1800 ish unless my oh is on here then no more than £50 honest.

I have seven bikes, six of which each cost more than my van… There’s a £1,400 pair of wheels on the posh bike alone!
Only paid full retail price for one of them though, biggest discount was about £1,000 off the posh bike.

The main bike I ride is my hack. A surly lht and it owes me about £500
My fav bike is my merlin magia road bike it’s 8 or 9 years old but guess would be 4-5 to replace now

3.5k for road bike
1.2k winter bike
4k for race mtb bike
2.5k for other mtb race bike
4.2k for turner 5 spot

All my pocket money goes on my bikes;

SC Tallboy LTc – CK wheels – full xtr/thomson/reverb/Carbon havens- Ouch! (5k +)

Niner Air9 Carbon – CK Wheels – full xtr/thomson/RF SixC etc – Ouch! (3k ish+)

Nicolai Helius Ac – CK Wheels – full XTR/thomson/reverb/SixC etc- Ouch! (4-5k ish)

BMC SCC01 – Full Dura-ace – best clothes hanger I have ever owned! (3-4kish)

Trek 69er – Singlespeed / all original mint – 600 quid

I love all of them except the roadbike which was a mistake!

I have specced and built all the bikes myself and each one is used regularly. They cost a fortune but things do.

Also, I live in malaysia where components can be bought for a massive amount less than you guys in the uk.

e.g. My Tallboy LTc with Fox Kashima 34’s actually cost me 2100pounds!

At the end of the day, the cost is irrelevant, I enjoy it and thats what counts.

Of my 8 bikes, I’d guess the total spend is ~£5.5K, cost is utterly relevant as I enjoy doing other stuff that also costs money 😛

Only allowed one bike so try to get one that can do all the types of riding I enjoy.
Currently my Yeti SB66c fits the bill, with XT build, 160mm Floats and KS Lev dropper, about 3500 GBP in total though I got half of that back selling my previous bike.

Somewhere around the £2k mark I think. Got the frame free and then stuck some reasonable quality stuff on it.

mmmm, 2nd hand 100 quid frame, 80 quid forks, 10 year old second hand bits from the old frame i killed. probably no more than 300 quid all up and it’s ace!
Pipedream MK1 with exotic carbon fork for reference.

now if you said our bike, the Tandem cost us $7500 5 years ago but that’s steal considering what we got.
