I’ll not post pics of my jackets and gilets or you’ll think I’ve got a problem or my cap collection..

I counted 52 there, I feel much better now 😉

I had a bit of a purge of cycle clothing (actually all my clothing) recently that I don’t wear anymore. Anything in great condition was sold, anything in good condition or is not worth much (less desirable brands) went to the charity shop, everything else went to the clothing recycling bank.

I still probably only regularly wear about 50% of my cycling clothes. I reckon if you include jackets, gilets, short sleeve and long sleeve jerseys then I probably have 20-30 items.

My plan is to not replace kit unless it is heavily worn out. So far that’s going well this year as I’ve bought a few items in the sale.

55 jerseys does sound a lot though. Have you thought about maybe making a some sort of collage out the more interesting ones you don’t wear?

I had a recount, jackets, both softshell and waterproof, account for 16, gilets 6, SS jerseys 17, LS jerseys 16.

they are split probs 60% road/gravel fit and 40% mtb, though a fair number of crossover items.

Move most of our riding gear on once a year at Peatys Bike Bonanza. If it only sells for a couple of pounds it’s going back into the riding community for some one else to benefit.

About eight, including a road top that I never use and a softshell jacket that I only seem to wear when working on the bike or DIY.

It’s only in your head. New or not if you don’t want it or need it then I think it’s better to let others benefit even if you get nothing financially you still get the satisfaction that it’s gone for a good cause.

You will get those who will take advantage of your good will but that’s on them and their conscience

55 jerseys does sound a lot though.

Jerseys sounds like a lot, but riding tops doesn’t imo.

I mean, just to get through all the seasons here, I have:

    • Windproof
    • Windproof gilet
    • Polartec alpha gilet
    • Polartec alpha jacket
    • Road waterproof
    • MTB waterproof
    • Softshell
    • Warmer Softshell
    • Insulated jacket
    • Hi Viz
    • Commuter jacket

Include some doubles as spares/things being in the wash, and including various levels of jerseys, and getting to 55 doesn’t seem like that much of a challenge.

Just counted… 22. (not including 1 winter jacket, 2 gilets, and 2 waterproof jackets)

In my defence, not all were purchased by me.

2 included as part of entry package to stage races.

    2 unannounced gifts.

2 are the “wrong” size, but weren’t worth the return postage, maybe one day I’ll reach racing weight and fit into them?

1 was a Singletrack Tuesday Treats competition prize!

2 were cheap purchases (Sports Direct and Lidl), bought when I first started riding, and never see the light of day anymore.

2 club jerseys (same club, old and new designs).

So that leaves 50% that I clearly chose and “need”, at a purchase rate of about 1 per year. (Phrasing it this way makes it seem like rookie numbers).

    Blimey.

Got a black jersey and a blue jersey (for “summer”, barely worn), and then a black long sleeve for autumn or if it’s a bit chilly, and a blue fleecier long sleeve jersey for when it’s colder. Oh and a rain shell layer with bonus retro-reflective bits. I think that’s it.

That’s substantially more than the shoe thread (1pr SPD cycling shoes, and 1pr shoes I use for cycling).

Pretty sure I had a Z Vetements jersey back in the day though, when I was about 16.

55?!?! Jesus Christ, I don’t think I own 55 items of clothing in total. If you discount socks and underwear then I definitely have less than 55 items of clothing! 4 cycling jerseys fwiw.
