Anybody got their bikes included on house contents insurance ?

If so, what insurance company, as my current insurers dont want to know.

I have 4 bikes with a total value (what they cost me) of about 5K.

any other insurance options considered…who do you use

Hiscox. No problem with bikes of any value.

M&S, you won’t even have to declare them as specified items

Direct line. Up to 2.5k in the house and covered when I’m out on the bike too.

Another vote for M&S here and i double checked their bike cover policy on Monday when i renewed.

Used to be with Direct Line on their top level of cover (specifically for the bikes) but found out as i was about to renew that i’d been lied to over the phone and in fact my bikes had never been covered for the previous year despite me telling them all about the bikes. Would now never use them again.

+1 for M+S for reasons stated (high value but still unspecified, includes out of house).

Is the general feeling home insurance is the best way to insure your bikes?

Yes, definitely. Although except for M&S I found my premium went up an astronomical amount when I declared them. 3 bikes, £9000.

I work for an insurance company too, we get a staff discount, and it wasn’t close to M&S!

We use M& S for the reasons stated above!

Get a new quote from M&S onlne, it will probably be cheaper than the renewal.

Mines with Zurich £4500 worth of bikes added £25 to the premium inc word wide accidental damage and theft.

Yep, I’ve just got a new business quote every year, always far cheaper than renewal.

+1 M&S. Mid-claim right now (for theft) and all smooth so far. Just got to decide between a Zesty, a Five or cash replacement. Decisions, decisions…

Another for M&S. Had my bike nicked in May, I notified them on the Wednesday (2 days after it went) money was in my account 8 days later.
They deal with Wheelies and although some people on here have had issues with them I found them really helpful, they even valued my bike at £200 over my highest estimate.
