There's a Premier Inn in Port Talbot, right on jnct 41. No idea what it's like or if it's that cheap though?
Plenty of B&Bs in Aberavon which is as good as being in Port Talbot – not a string of words that are usually used together!
If I were you I wouldn't bother with PT – just head up the afan valley and find something up there. You wouldn't really want to take the air of a night in Port Talbot.

As Mog suggests. Port Talbot is a dump.

Another vote for Afan lodge…run by good people and its the best bike friendly B+B you'll get within decent striking distance of the trails otherwise you will be looking at Swansea.

They were also very happy to accomodate 14 hungry, loud, happy mtb'ers for an evening meal last time we were up that way 🙂

Afan Lodge is fantastic. Stayed last year and going back this year again, can't recommend the place enough.

    Castle Hotel Neath
Has big lock up (not really advertised) you can drive car into with bike inside
Failing that try some guest houses around Porthcawl
