I have a blue rear Hope Pro 4, which I have always thought looks a fair bit lighter than Hope blue, but I don’t currently have any other blue Hope stuff to compare it with. Has Hope changed the shade of blue it uses over the years?

It changes from batch to batch. The Blue is notoriously bad to match together batches, especially on hubs as its so big n obvious.

    They do fade overtime IME.

Also, when I built up a pair of wheels recently it was with blue Hope hubs (third set I own 🫣) theyre slightly different shades of blue, I was tempted to send one back but needed the wheels for a planned ride so just used them. You can’t tell once they’re fitted, especially covered in crap.

I don’t know how true it is, but I was once told that blue anodising is more sensitive to the variations in the actual alloy than most other colours.

Where as green is just hard to control the process to get consistent results.

They all fade though. I remember a guide in Greece having some pink Hope brakes. They’d started life as purple.

Blue does vary, but I  only really notice it when parts are side by side. When at opposite ends of handle bars (brakes) or the bike (hubs) I dont notice it at all.

I see Hope now put this label on the inside of their brake boxes. I always read it in a slightly exasperated yorkshire accent. I can see them doing the same for blue parts ha ha

Edit and as Onzadog says it fades over time as well

Yep, blue if defo sensitive. The top and bottom cup of my headset are a fair bit different and it annoyed me at first but then noticed the top matched my brakes and bits where as the lower matched the fork lever so I stopped being a fanny!

Just to add to the confusion, they also do, or have done a much lighter blue as I have some hubs in that shade. More turquoise.

I don’t think minor differences would phase me at all (ocd overridden my mild colourblindness)

It’s also a pretty new hub (although old stock I suspect) so not faded

But it’s possible my rear is the turquise that you mention, chestrockwell

    It’s kind of this colour
