help with new laptop – not showing videos / hotmail / facebook

any IT type people out there.
got a new laptop, it has vista on it. hooked up to the internet, and this works fine, when i open up youtube, it loads it all up apart from the littel box for the video. if i type in hotmail, it says done at the bottom left ont he tool bar but the screen does not load – same with facebook.

is there something in the internet security i have to unclick, or anything else that is preventing me from lookign at these sites?
