A chap (early 40's) has done my family a favour. I would like to get him a token 'thanks' gift, up to around £20 or so. Trouble is I know nothing personal about him except he does not sound very interested in booze.

Any ideas what I could get? I dont want to embarass the guy by going over the top, but I dont want some junk present either.

Is he married/live with a partner? Get a simple bouquet and a box of choccies. That way his partner gets to know what a great guy he is too so he feels the love in more ways.

ide go with a nice bottle of beer or 4 (spitfire, OSH, etc), but sounds like your avoiding that…

think about consumables, is if theyre not keen, they dont clutter up the house.
if you have him something permenant, and its not what hes interested in, he has to put it somewhere.

    beer can get drunked 🙂

I think he might have a recent girlfriend. I had thought something the 2 of them could enjoy, but that could get expensive (I am not flush with cash) plus he lives in an area where I have no knowledge of local venues etc or if they are nice places.

He possibly has a new girlfriend and has low interest in drinking, plus in his early 40's – this is ALL I know, nowt else at all! I am rubbish at social stuff and have no partner to bring to any meal – so I would rather not 'take' them for a meal, even though would normally be a nice gesture. I would probabally ruin thier evening! 🙂

What was the nature of the favour? Is there something broadly similar you can do in return?

If not a 'thing' how about tickets to an event, or something like theatre / restaurant vouchers. That way you don't have to second guess his tastes but he can have a night out that he can attribute to you. Theatre tokens are only worth giving if your local theatres actually accept them, and put on a wide enough range of shows – comedy, music and general entertainment as well as drama.

Clothes vouchers from a decent store are usually appreciated.

Just been looking on internet for resturants or other 'things they could do' in the Worcester/Gloucester/Chelteham areas. I dont know that area in any useful way at all.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far folks, I will give them all consideration as they are all very constructive. I might skip the dildo though!
