I guess there is no coincidence that with the mercury falling I’m seeing more people on calls with heated gilets on – you can usually see the lit emblem on the chest.

Is there a go to brand for these as I’m tempted to give one a try.

Literally just came to the forum to find this info (from a thread a few weeks back).

Here is the older thread https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/heated-gillets/

I have the Ororo one, bought from Amazon and not them as they always seem very expensive.

It’s pretty good although sometimes it give a ‘sweaty’ feeling. Sometimes use it if I am trying to work in the cold garage in winter.

It has 7.2V batteries which might be of note, as some of the cheaper ones have only 5V and apparently 7.2 works a lot better with heated vests.

I bought a second battery so I always have one available. I have misplaced the charger so charge the batteries using my Apple walwart for my iPad, but it takes a while.

I bought my wife a £30 one Amazon and a fancy battery.

Despite complaining about being cold she almost never wore it

The large battery pack has been much more usefull.

Just a thicker fleece gilet, or a down one, Uniqlo do several with different size ‘pockets’ of down. I’ve got a grey and yellow Fox Racing fleece I bought in Chamonix somewhere around ‘95-ish, and it’s probably one of my most worn items of clothing. It’s not very thick, but it’s been invaluable over the years even just over a tee shirt.
If you don’t mind the colour, this is on sale at £20

This is the one I’ve got, at full price there’s a wider range of colours, and they’re really warm, and very light, they pack down into a small bag that’ll go into a pocket. Excellent value for money, I’m tempted to get another one in a different colour, like the dark blue one.
