I did loads of reading up on bamboo (on the internet)

It seems there is loads of tat about and its often mainly horrible glue. So in the end we avoided it

Depends which hardwood I guess. I’d prefer bamboo over balsa.

To be honest engineered timber or Bamboo should effectively be the same
in which would be different if it was to be made from its solid form

    Bamboo

    Engineered hardwood if you’re choosing.

I’ve fitted bamboo as a floor and as a worktop. I like it and its naturally water resistant but…..it scorches like a bugger when you cut it. Probably cos its so hard. Not something you
Can’t deal with but just worth noting.

It is also really heavy (dense). From personal experience I won’t be accepting any more work top jobs in 4th floor flats from now on. 4m lengths of bamboo worktop will wreck anyone’s back in time !

    Our bamboo is, frankly, shite.

Not stable (big gaps opening up over this year), and the lacquer is so rubbish that it not only scratches easily but the scratches are really obvious.

Better bamboo products may be available, but this wasn’t the cheapest by a long way, and I wouldn’t touch it again.
