Maybe its time for a new lid. My pisspots are nice and tough and cope will rolling around when I go over the bars but are just a bit OTT for my CX/roughstuff use. Road helmets are fine but fragile but just wondering if there is anything that is more minimalistic than a PP but with the same shell type. Giro do one but wondering on others? Anyone got any suggestions.
    Peak not wanted .

All helmets are tested to the same safety standard.

Yeah but road type lids are one knock jobs whereas my PP has a hard shell that isn’t easily damaged.
Standards don’t matter as most helmets meeet them.

Road helmets are not designed to be bashed more than once. Otherwise they’d be so heavy they’d be uncomfortable for hours in the saddle.

I know that which is why I don’t want one!!!!!!!

I didn’t. I wanted a hardshell one like the Giro. They do exist but just haven’t seen them all yet.

What is wrong with an ordinary road helmet? If you are thinking about crashing every 10mins then I would give riding on the road a miss.

I don’t want it for the road. CX/roughstuff as in my first post.
    Never mind

A mountain bike helmet and take the peak off?

Even motorbike helmets aren’t designed to take more than one serious impact (though they need to be hit pretty hard).

That Giro’s a remarkable looking bit of kit. People wear those do they? On their actual heads?

That giro has the usual thin shell AFAIK.

    This?

Aren’t all helmets ‘hard shells’ and only ‘one knock jobs’?

Nope. Kayak helmet is designed to take multiple impacts for instance.

Casco do some hard shell ones but designed for commuting really, like:
