Does it have any extra bits or is it all “normally (non cheeky) accessible”?

Not that I’ve spent enough time at Hamsterley to notice mind

Apparently it features bits of the forest and surrounding area you wouldn’t or couldn’t normally go to. tbh that’s one of the reasons I’m doing it, learn more trails 🙂

Last year grown men cried like babies.

    Ta for the info.

I may give this a bash then. (especially since I’ll have company for my weeping)

I fully intend to cry, and also bail out at some point between 18 and 40 miles.

I thoroughly enjoyed it last year, it takes in lots of “off piste” and unused sections of the forest. Hard work but great day out and great charity

I would be doing it but I need my legs to work for the day after.

I’m still doing it, scared stiff lol

My training has involved drinking stella and buying a new bike

I’ll be there, probably in Saddle Skedaddle kit.

Treating it as a cruisy training ride after a dodgy knee episode recently.

    Hope the weather plays ball!

I’ll be in my most garish 90s Volvo/Cannondale jersey, on my Nukeproof Mega.

Have done nothing in the way of training and haven’t even ridden my proper bike for… at least a month 😯

Well you’ve been a new bike better than I have.

Can’t decide on hardtail or full suspension but one way or the other I’ll be there

New bike is a lovely boardman team fs, very happy with it. Hoping the suspension will save my legs enough on the downs that I can ride the ups

Lovely and dry in the forest weds night, trails running well, first time I’ve left hamsterley clean!

Enjoyed that. Perfect weather and conditions. Great craic. Good test of the legs.

Didn’t have to clean my bike when I got home so spent the time in a hammock in the back yard with a beer. Double win.

Great route, could have done with a couple more signs/marshals here and there but still enjoyed it.
Weather conditions perfect too, nice ride

I did do an extra bit of climbing after a marshall said “turn left” and I turned left and shot (wheezed) back up the hill towards the 4x track. Turns out he meant “take the left of the two trails across the fire road.”

Other than that I thought it was reasonably well signed.

It could have been made clearer that the little red flags were marking our course. I assumed they were but no-one told me so it could have been anything.

Yeah, I blame the crap briefing…
I haven’t done the event before or ridden at Hamsterley for that matter and didn’t have a clue where I was most of the time.
However I will be back next year if not before!

Brill ride – I thought the marshalling was spot on. Great to take in one of the DH trails. Last 10 miles hurt a lot but a great day out!

My son did it in 5hrs 47mins. Really enjoyed it & raised over £400 for Cancer Reasearch.
