Bag of haribo looking at me, but tastes rubbish. Had the taste thing happening before I went into iccu, so sure it’s from the syndrome

All the best mate. My brother had it a couple of years back. He went from leg pain to paralysed from the neck down in a astonishingly quick time. He was in hospital for 6 months.
He still struggles to walk normally(he is very flat footed).
I clearly effects everyone differently and therefore the recovery result can be different. However it should be noted that my brother has some learning difficulties and was not at all motivated during the physio. If he was as active as he was stuburn i’ve no doubt he would have made a better recovery.
Of course i have no medical experience to back this up!

My dad had it. Affected his back and paralysed him from chest down. Spent almost a year in a chair after about 3 months in hospital then 6 months on crutches and sticks. Full recovery but was proper humped at the time.

Ah. Me, my wife and my father-in all had s&d, the docs in iccu said that they couldn’t find anything that they can link the syndrome too.

Excuse the lowering of the tone here. Did any of you suffer from bouts of vomiting? I’ve been suffering from this roughly every other day. Not nice.

    Cheers.

I don’t remember having that problem so long after the initial illness.

Started about 2 weeks ago, so not had it since discharge from hospital. Doctor has prescribed me some anti sickness tablets and they seem to be doing the trick.

Well, I’ve kind of hit a brick wall, feel like I’m going backwards not forwards, the pain is worse than ever and I need to use my stick to ease the pain when walking any great distance. Feet still numb but very painful, hands feel like they have ball bearings in them and **** me I’m sore.

Having a few down days here 🙁

I’m sure they’re pumping you full of conventional medicines but checked in with my freind who’s a natural medicines guy and he says all antioxident things are good for anything immune system related so here is a cut and paste of the 4 natural things, don’t think they’d interfere with your other medicines but probably better checking, hope this helps 🙁 Debs

Wheat Grass: This is an antioxidant
Hypericum which has specific positive effects on the myelin sheath of nerve fibres and is a great help in the case of Parkinson’s and Bells Palsy both of which involve physical degeneration and or inflammation of the nerve fibres so not the same thing but similar????
Mugwort which is another nervous system tonic which is used to support healing of any physical nervous system injury.
Comfrey which is a well known support for healing of bones and connective tissue but also works to normalise other tissue in the body.

I had good days followed by days of absolutely empty tank. I had to learn to measure out my efforts, still do actually. The worst bit was watching muscles atrophy.

Not much I can say that would be of comfort except that it can and does get better. Basically don’t measure yourself against others, just against yourself.

I still manage a couple of 24hr solos each year and a few 12 and 8 hrs – although no-one would accuse me of being fast 🙂
