Dont’ worry, I was referring to the delusions of grandeur that are often acquired after an extended period of study, rather than doubting that you’d actually completed an additional few years at uni 🙂 )

I just went for a wee dauner down to the Merchant City and Buchanan Street at lunch time and the place is buzzing- real good atmosphere about it. It appears that every pub, i mean hovel, has table and chairs outside.

everybody has to walk in the cycle lanes or the road as the pavements are taken up by people sitting on chairs

Just cycled home through Hovelville, while I have some reservations that it’s not the cycle friendly games they claim (closed cycle routes, dangerous poorly signposted diversions and a lack of awareness from pedestrians stepping into cycle lanes without looking), there is a great atmosphere with lots more cycling, foreign visitors and a general buzz and proudness from the people of Glasgow about Glasgow. Glasgow was jumping tonight and hopefully will be throughout the games. It’s a great city.

I’ve been in on the bike twice this week (commute from Strathaven to Anderston) and the city does feel different. Warmer, definitely.
