Ive got a 2016 Giant Defy 2 fitted with the carbon D fuse seatpost and Im having issues with it slipping all the time.

Its the model with a 2 bolt clamp like a normal clamp and Ive done it up correctly but every week its slipping.

Ive tried cleaning up the post and seat tube but the problem persists.

    Any ideas please.

    Thanks

    Steve

Are you using carbon assembly paste?

No, Is it something that will help?

Yes, as well as being anti-seize (something that is *very* important!), it also has some friction material in it (think of it a bit like anti-grease) which makes a huge difference to the amount of grip the clamped frame has on the post. Highly recommended.

Loads of different ones out there. I happen to use this one and it works for me.

Yes, it increases the friction between surfaces to prevent slipping on smooth low clamping force joints. It feels like grease with sand in it.

I use Finish Line Fiber Grip, but loads of options

use fibre grip grease as normal grease can affect the carbon. carbon to carbon or carbon to alloy with react and weld itself in there making it expensive and possible catastophic to remove

+1 for carbon assembly paste.  It has little grippy blobs in it, works well for me.

I use the not “gritty” carbon paste. Works just as well and doesn’t mark handlebars etc.

Funnily enough I have the same problem although it’s the newer non clamp type (2018 bike). I am using carbon paste but it keeps slipping. It’s going back to LBS tomorrow for something else so will mention to them but it’s a strange one.
