Not his choice, the BBC recently chose to limit what certain extra people they pay can say on social media… it wasn’t a coincidence that the new wider definition of who must watch what they say happens to describe him and his role very precisely. So, yes, he is saying less, and less often… but that isn’t his choice. But he doesn’t have to be silent, just measured and very careful.

Gary Lineker makes the headlines when he challenges this government of racists and bigots, he could keep his mouth shut but chooses not to.

It would be great if the Official Opposition did more to publicly challenge the appalling racism and bigotry coming from the current government.

Sadly they appear to be scared of inevitable backlash from the right-wing press. Luckily Lineker doesn’t seem to care. Many people are very grateful of that.

True. Or more accurately, as long he wants to present TV programmes about football on a free to air channel. He’ll make plenty of money if he leaves the BBC, plenty of possible employers who’d love to have him.
