    Hi,

Does anyone have the same bike and know if a BB with 113mm spindle length fits OK?

The original BB was 118mm but in desperation (I'm riding tomorrow) I have just bought a replacement from my LBS with a 113mm spindle as they told me that this would work fine. Whilst I'd love to be able to place my faith in their judgement if I fit it and discover that the chainrings foul the chainstay I doubt they'll be prepared to refund me for a BB that has been mounted into a frame. I'm assuming that Specialized will have originally fitted the most appropriate BB for the clearances allowed by the frame which suggests that 113 will be too short.

Unfortunately the chainset has already been removed from the old BB or else I'd be able to see what clearance I originally had and make my own judgement call on this one.

    Cheers!

Well, just in case anyone ever needs the answer to the question I posed, yes, a 113mm BB fits just fine. In fact, if anything, the chainline seems improved and solves the long running problem I used to have where the front mech used to foul the chain in quite a few of the gears which no amount of fettling could cure.

So, in summary, HURRAH! Problem solved.
