Anyone used both or just views one one or the other?

Are Fox still prone to stanchion wear unless you do that little service every 2 minutes or so they have more sensible service intervals these days?

I’ve just bought a rhythm from Germany in boost format and the service interval is every 125 hrs/yearly whichever comes first. So no big drama 😉

    That’s nice to hear.

what do you want the fork for? The yari is a lyrik without the charger damper, the 34 is a trail fork, more equivalent to a revelation…

I like the rhythm 34 – smooth, reliable, but a little linear and flexy if you want a hard hitting longer travel fork, or you’re a bigger guy. The yari is a decent budget enduro fork, really, but there seem to be some inconsistencies with performance on some from what I hear, and I’d say the 34 has a smoother stroke.

If they did a rhythm 36, I’d get that over the yari, but they don’t.

For what it’s worth, I’ve had a 2017 Fox Factory 34 and a Yari (both 150mm). I preferred the Yari over the fox despite it being worth half the price.

Can’t really put my finger on why as this was on a 2016 Stumpy. If I remember right, the 150mm Yari had a longer axle to crown than the Fox and I think it was just the fact that it felt a bit burlier and suited me better.

In hindsight, I should have really got a 36 at the time for a more fair comparison.

They come standard on a couple of bikes I’m considering and the forks are the biggest unknown to me.

I’ve just got a new 2017 Yari and fitted a 2019 debonair airshaft before riding it as I needed to change the travel anyway. First impression is it’s so plush and active over the small bumps, I noticed this as did the guy I was riding along with. Likely a combination of the bigger negative chamber in the airshaft and the freshly greased seals. Only had one ride so far but they seem composed and supportive on the steep stuff, no fast big hits yet. Running 150mm with 3 tokens as an initial guess at set up. Haven’t ridden a 34 Rhythm to compare. Neither fork would put me off a short/mid travel trail bike.

Bought two Fox 34 Rhythm boost forks in winter sale ( bike-components.de ). Use one of the forks on an hardtail, the other on my 150/150 all mountain bike.

Very happy with both. The 150/150 bike has 35 mm rims and 2.6 inch rubber. This in combination with the 150 mm 34 Rhythm fork is just great. Love this bike.

Nobody else with Rhythms?  I’m more interested to hear about their feel and reliability.  Been a Rock Shox man for ages now.

I have rythm’s on my Sonder transmitter, very impresed, especially at the price I paid. Not noticed any flex issues, but they are only 130mm travel, I would certainly buy them again. They haven’t been used on rocky trails, only rooty woodland, but whilst riding them I haven’t given them a second thought, they just do their job quietly, not divey, not harsh, not spikey, feel similar to my pikes and x-fusion slides.

The Yari lowers are the same as the Lyrik arent they which is the equiv of the 36. The thicker lowers will make the bike track straighter and turn harder.

    Thanks for replies.

So the old wear issues are a thing of the past for Fox now?  I remember several years ago now (7 or 8?) buying a second hand bike that had 36s on and you could feel the ridges on the stanchions where they’d worn.

Me too. But biked the lower cost Rock Shox forks (like Sektor and Reba).

The above mentioned two Fox 34 Rhythm forks I have in use right now (130 mm and 150 mm): they are classes better than these low cost Rock Shox forks. But guess that’s clear…

My Bossnut V2: if there is such a Fox winter sale ever again I will try to get such a Fox Rhythm fork for my Bossnut as well. Also if I have to invest into a new front wheel (boost).

    I have a Pike RCT3 29er, Yari RL 29er and a Rhythm 34.

I’m not a gnar to the power of extreme rider so unlikely to ever take any of these to the raggedy edge but ….. The RS forks feel to me stiffer than the Rhythm.

The big difference to me comes from the platforms. The RCT3 (charger?) damper on the Pike to me is superior to the others by some way.

The initial impressions from the Fox is that it is very smooth and is on a bike that is unlikely to ever need anything other than the compression dial run in open mode.

The Rhythm does have an open bath on the RHS but not on the other (125cc vs 10cc IIRC) – I won’t be running these for 125hrs before a lower leg service.

If cost wasn’t an option …… Pike.

If cost is an option the Rhythm is a corker for £183.

Where from at that price?  Surely not right…is it?

I didn’t like my Yari’s. They’re stiff, but I didn’t like the damping which struggled on repeated fast hits. I’m not surprised though as I’ve never been a fan of the MoCo damper.

Ive swapped the Yari’s for another pair of Mattoc Pro’s which are lighter, more adjustable and much better damped albeit not quite as stiff. Plus they don’t utilise the stupid torque caps.

Kashima is still very soft, my mates 36s are marked from fly hits from the roof of the car, my Yari laugh at such abuse.

RS and Yari / Revelations especially are laughably easy to service (bar the annoying circlip part) Foxs can’t be home serviced (lower service aside).

I’ve heard before that the 34’s are close to Pikes in performance. If so, get them as Yari’s are a million miles off Pike performance.

I have a 2015ish Pike and 2017 Yari. The Yari is decent enough until things get choppy but it soon gets confused over terrain the Pike would lap up.

I’ve got the rhythms; they came on my bike. (Ghost roket + HT). I’m a big guy (125kg when I got the bike, 111kg now) and they feel great. They just work for me; they track true through the rough stuff and there is no flex, whilst climbing really well.

i bought another set from the Germans, just in case…
