Never ridden either trail (well ridden DH tracks at FOD) and looking for some fun on Sunday.

Which would you recommend based on flow, fun & current weather condition?

    Cheers

FOD, but find someone to guide you round some offbeat trails. Ride Verderers for sure, but then go out and explore. The FoD is fun whatever the weather, some of it is more weather proof than other bits, but the mud there is loose so doesn’t clog and slow you down too much.

Llandegla is boring… It’s a big BMX track really. This is just my opinion, but I don’t find anything at Llandegla in the slightest bit interesting aside from 2 short bits on the new black sections, but they’re quite heavily sanitised too. It’s motorway wide all the way round, I like tight twisty singletrack which the FoD is full of.

If I was free Sunday I’d offer to take you round FOD, but I’m busy sorry.

Mboy….I ride a blender, and came from BMX….you’ve inadvertently sold Llandelga!!

How will it be in the current weather climate?

Llandegla isn’t a big bmx track, the jumps are tiny and there aren’t many of them.. out of the two I prefer FOD for its DH trails.

Ha, I didn’t take it literally, I’ve seen vids but simple, fast, flowy sounds like what I like. I’ll be riding both soon, really interested in which will be better given the masses of rain we’ve had.

Yeah done FOD DH, planning on uplift soon but purely going for trails this weekend.

Timec – fine could you be more specific?

In that case probably Llandegla then although the FOD vederers is fun, just a bit short.

I mean it’s like a BMX track in that it’s very wide and smooth pretty much everywhere. Not that it’s covered in huge doubles and tabletops.

FOD is infinitely more fun, and that’s just the Verderers trail… Get off that there’s miles of DH tracks, let alone hundreds of miles of brilliant singletrack.

Llandegla is the most one dimensional place I’ve ever ridden a bike at. Well, that has been man made/shaped anyway. It’s not at all inspiring sadly.

I know what you mean, it’s definitely my least favourite trail centre out of those I’ve been to. Nant Yr Arian probably my favourite. Probably not the worst place I’ve ever ridden a bike though, brought my bmx to work the other day and went out in search of street spots in my lunch break.. turns out that industrial estates and their surrounding areas in Milton Keynes have **** all inspiring to ride! No ledges or decent banks to walls etc.

Gotta love degla. It’s where I popped my mountain bike cherry and many blood vessels since. Gets bad press but I can always have fun on it. Helps that its around the corner from me.

    llandegla boring?

Ask my mate; he’s propped up in front of Wimbledon on the TV today having broken his collarbone on the black trail on Saturday……

I can tell you that particular stretch was not “motorway wide”!!!! 🙄

Did I ride the same trail on Sunday? Even avoiding the orange graded dirtjump trail I thought they’d gone overboard on the jumps, expecialy in the latter half, which seemed to be one continuous string of 6-10ft tabletops. Some bit were a bit tame, and it doesn’t have the technical/rocky nature of some balck routes, but I don’t see how anyone could accuse it of not having enough jumps!

Both are worthy options. But unless you have someone with knowledge, you won’t have much fun at the FOD. If you do, then you can be out all day. If you want more than a couple hours’ ride, you’ll be doing 2 laps of Llandegla. Do one this week, and the other next?

Going to FOD for the 1st time the weekend after next – what are the DH runs like?

Are they proper full face/DH bike stuff? I keep reading conflicting things, do you have to have a full face for the uplift?

If I’m to mincey for the DH runs can I have a good day out there on me Covert?

First few times i went to fod i did it on my trailstar with an xc helmet. Been twice on a dh bike and i think its better but saying that, last time i went i borrowed my mates hardtail for a run and it was still pretty good!
dunno if its changed but I’ve had no problems getting on the uplift with an xc helmet.

Tinas i can’t remember what trails we did but pretty sure it was all the blacks/ones that said they had jumps etc . Jj’s jumps was possibly the most disappointing bit and one of the most misleading trail names I’ve come across!
