Got a flight to catch for work tomorrow morning. Upgraded at on line check in, so not all bad! I use my Crackberry as an alarm clock, and am now worried/paranoid/flapping that it won’t wake me up on time, what with the clocks changing and all that.

Does anyone know if phones update the time automatically, or if I need to set the clock to the time tomorrow to make sure I’m up in time?

    Ta.

My phone updates automatically. Why don’t you set a back-up alarm?

    Normally phones update themselves.

Yes, phones update automatically. It’ll be in your Time & Date settings (manual or get from network).

Best of luck pushing that last batch of orange post-its by the way. I know they were a struggle to flog. 🙂

You travel the world in your twenty league boots spreading your wisdom and keeping the minions in check. Yet you can’t sort out how to get up on time on the first day of summer?
    Heh.

Can’t you get your butler to give you a wake up call?

Put your mobile number on this thread and ask folks to call you at what time you want to get up.

Clocks change at 2am I think. Set your Alarm for 01:55 so you can check the time does change

Go now, get lashed in your fancy-dan lounge, crash on their leather, ask stewardess to wake you with a bj ten mins before boarding, sorted.

I believe that service is only available on Cathay. 😉

To cover yourself can you set a countdown timer? As that will be unaffected by the change in time…

Now thats why I have an alarm clock and a watch with an alaarm on it, never have got people that rely so heavily on phones, come the day of armageddon you will all be screwed 😆

Alarm clock? What’s wrong with just waking up at the time you want to get up. Only rare occasions will I use an alarm clock, watch me sleep in tomorrow.

Use the graham obree method: drink loads of water before bed and you will wake every couple hours, when you go for wee drink another couple pints of water. Repeat till time to go

    Borrow a small child.
They are guaranteed to wake you up at least two hours before you need to get up.

Well i don’t know any jetsetters myself but I can’t imagine any self respecting ‘jetsetter’ to only rely on one clock, or at least know how it works.

Just put your alarm forward an hour more than you usually do to ensure you get there in time.

    Oh wait…..

And btw CFH I’m out of XO if you are going in that direction….

Just make it clear to the butler what may or may not happen to him if that flight leaves before you have taken your seat and been handed your first drink of the day.

Kryton, that direction, but rather further North.

Nick, small child ready and waiting. However, Little Miss CFH has a habit of sleeping through until 0800ish.

They change at 1am, (or 00:59:59.99999999999999999999 if you want to be pedantic), and jump straight to 2am, so it’s anyone’s guess whether a 1:55 alarm will go off.

Dig out one of those crappy old school Nokias from the kitchen draw and set the alarm. I use one as a secondary alarm on a daily basis.

they have these little black boxes in Argos for a fiver. They have red digital numbers on them. They need power off a battery or the mains. You can set the time on them, and get them to make a loud noise at anytime. AMMazing.

Correct, just book the Driver for when you want to get up 🙂

Personally, I thought the “I don’t know how to replace a windowcleaner” thread was more 1stworldproblemmy than this “I don’t know how to wake myself up on time” thread. This one’s just stoopid. C’mon CFH, must try harder with the 1stwordproblems!

I had actually logged on to ask the same question! :ooops: Need to be up at 8. If I put the clock forward will it do itself againand wake me at 7? If I don’t do it will it not do it itself and wake me at 9?
nothing to do with jet setting mind, and as it’s a bank hol the butler has buggered off for the weekend so can’t rely on him either. Like the count down alarm suggestion above, simple but genius!

I’ve just finished an utterly crazy nightshift in NHS land – I have never been so happy to see the clocks go forward an hour…

Dig out one of those crappy old school Nokias

Some of us never stopped using them. 😳
