“Living a working in a rural community, with many farmers – it’s not the farmers (at least in my area) that are complaining. Probably because I’m in the Cotswolds, where every celeb (Jeremy Clarkson inc.) and investment banker has bought up property and farms. It’s these very wealthy land owners (not farmers) that are complaining about the policy in my shop.”
And its the ‘clarkson farmers’ that have inflated the land prices making it impossible for working farmers to actually buy a farm, like the guy who runs clarkson farm he’s hired so that the rich can cosplay
If we really cared about social equality we’d have land taxes, upper taxbands, CGT loopholes closed and all the other tax dodges shut out, IHT the same for all etc
if we cared about the environment we’d ban hunting properly and punitive taxes on land not rewilded or actively farmed, solar on grazing land, regulation of chemicals used, right to roam etc
if we want farms to thrive we’d regulate the big supermarkets and rejoin the EU
