Had a realy nice few hours walking to the West of Lake Vyrnwy yesterday. Ended up at Bwlch y Groes car park and strolled towards Drws Bach, Aran Fawddwy, Aran Benllyn. Looks as if their is a relativley flatish plateau approach via Foel Hafod fynydd, not into rope work, so has anyone walked this route?

It’s one of my fav walks.

Go along the A470 towards Dolgellau turning off in the village of Dinas Maldwy. At the end of Dyfi Terrace turn right and take the next left. Go to the end of the road some 2 miles away. Park on open ground just before the trees – there’s a Portaloo there!(don’t park near farm!)

On foot – Follow road up to farm house and bear right around house to path at rear. Follow obvious track up to left of Creiegau Cwmddwr then left and so to the trig point on Arran Ffawddwy. Good luck with the views! Retrace your steps to the path that returns you via Drws Bach (small door) via Drysgol and and round to Waun Coch. Follow maze of lanes (fantastic sloes in October) all the way down to road and return to car.

    hope that makes sense?

    Cheers
