I’ve bought a second hand early rider seeker and I’m giving it a good overhaul and servicing all the bearings.

The rear hub driveside end cap is refusing to budge so I ended up driving it and the freehub off on the axel.

I’ve asked early rider if they keep spares but in case they don’t, does anyone know what catalogue hub they use?

The freehub bearings feel smooth but wet (not greasy) but the hub bearings are smooth.

Update while I wait on early rider replying to my reply,  What technique to free up and end cap?

I’ve tried a fair bit of brute force but it’s not shifting. I assume seized onto the axel. when flushed through the free hub bearings disgorge rusty silty muck.

What’s best to penetrate and break down aluminum on aluminum corrosion so the end cap comes off but goes back on again .

I’m currently left with this. Screenshot_20241111-181542~2Screenshot_20241111-181534~2

I assume you’ve tried an allen key in it? Axle clamps in a vice and an allen key should undo it.

Only tried a straight Allen key maybe I’ll try the L bit and lever it around. Turn it into a 12mm axel.

Turns out I’d overlooked the 12mm hex in the NDS end of the axel and never saw the 5mm hex in the end cap. Reverse threaded.

2new bearings and the other 4 for both hubs can get some xhp 222.

Hopefully if someone searches the forum they can benefit from my mistake.

Good job. The 5mm in the end cap was what I was referring too as it’s obvious in the picture. Had one years ago like that and it also took me ages to work out (sun ringle hub iirc).
