I imagine emissions legislation may have something to do with it.

Difficult to pin down ‘dream’ car in some ways – ever rarer old cars with style would do it for me.

C Type Jaguar – there’s one round our way
Saab 900 Turbo (original) – hell, even a Saab 96 would be quite nice for quirkiness
    205 GTI or even T16
Alvis TF21 would be lovely – just an aura or serenity – our wedding car was one of these (in burgundy)

Lotus Elan for more country fun
    Citroen DS

    or even better the SM

    or TA..

It’s the Honda NSX for me. Total classic, and almost in the realm of sensible affordability. I’ve even got over my teenage disgust with what I thought was too big a back end.

I’d have to have the engine modified to an obscene degree of power though. Those VTEC engine sure do like a supercharger….

I was fortunate enough to look after a few mates rally cars back in the ’70s
Mini 1293s built by Tony Blower
An ex Graham Elsmore Grp1 Mk1 Escort
    Mk2 Mexico with Burton engine
    Mk1 Mexico self build.
Hillman Imp and a GT6 track car. GT6 had triple Webbers and sounded awesome 😆

My choice would be a Mini…..

However a bright orange Lamborghini overtook us whilst riding along the banks of Ulswater in July, the sight and sound was jaw dropping, could hear it for miles barely getting out of 1st/2nd gear ❗

Yes exactly, Mr Porsche was looking over Mr Tatra’s shoulder when he designed what became the Beetle

For reasons I won’t bore you with now, imo, the Camaro of the late 60s truely is a thing of beauty, as is the Miura, which as well as possibly being one of the top 3 most beautiful cars ever made by man, represents a design we could never see certified for our roads, ever again. A true design of its time.
Currently, I work in a design studio, having an input into the cars of tomorrow. Legislation means we will never again, see the likes of some of the cars that have been posted on this thread, Brussels has seen to that and as far as making cars safer, I have to agree that it’s a worthy direction to channel car design into, although it will forever consign some of the beautiful designs we see here, to the history books.
Thanks for all the pictures, great thread!
    😀

Oops, not so sure about the Camaro in blue….
