We will be in touch
On the wind down at work providing no emergencies, been thinking to myself what bike I'd choose if money was no option, struggling to pick one above all the others. What would you go for, and more importantly why?
Ti Stanton Switchback, simple, beautiful hardtail with modern geometry. Will be a better bike than my riding will ever deserve though.
Baum Coretto with Di2 and Enve wheels.
On the topic of ti bikes: This is rather beautiful http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/category/bikes/mountain-bikes/full-suspension/product/review-kingdom-hex-15-49144/
Jeff Jones ti spaceframe with Xtr di2 and set up fat front and 27.5+ on the rear with carbon rims.
I have always aspired to Ti over carbon, on more than one occasion now it has proved to be a bad choice, on the other hand I'm glad I never sold my cheap 29er OO Scandal & the C456 🙄
'longer' Nicolai Geomteron with a good splash of XTR Di2
Or a BTR Ranger made a shade longer.
The Raleigh Chipper I had when I was 8......faster than trains and could jump rivers too.
For road, my current Synapse gives me no reason to wish for anything more. Somehow its both smoother than my previous ti (which cracked), and more rigid than other carbon bikes I've owned.

For mtb, any of the new breed of mid-travel slack 29ers (Tallboy, Smuggler etc) look tasty.

Built myself a longest a week or so back - just the regular XTR for me, but can't think of anything I'd swap it for right now
Ridiculously prosaic but it was the carbon remedy 29er, now it's either that or the slash 29. Treks shouldn't be dream bikes but the metal Remedy is just so damn good...

Think Trek - probably moreso that any other brand right now - are making really good looking bikes - just simple, one good colour, one plain logo, smooth lines, job done. Look good the way Transitions used to, and they ride well.
And they've priced them well into the "dream" bracket too 🙂
I really like the idea of one of those pivot things - switchblade/switchback ?
2014 V1 5010 c (beforenthey did a cheaper carbon one) w/top of the range everything. I demoed it, declared it perfect and ordered one.
So I guess a v2 one, but I'm still loving mine so no immediate rush
Sorry to crush any dreams for those lusting after XTR Di2, bit when I had a quick play for 10 mins, I didn't like it, feels cheap, the lever throw is far too long before you get a 'click' and the motors do their thing. Road di2 is miles better.
Only 1?
From a short list
Blinged out Nomad
Blinged out Hightower
The one after I got either of those.
The dream bike is always the next one
Blinged out Nomad
They are rather nice 8)
The cheap one was a very nice bike 🙂

in many ways my current bike was my dream bike, full custom build with a spec that I would have killed for a few years back

Now it feels old and tired next to the youngsters
My Bandit, but with a slightly taller bb. It's the first bike I've kept for longer than 10-12 months (nearly 2 years now!) & I have even got rid of some. The low bb is my only issue with it.
My current bike is a bit of a dream bike for me. I've been lucky though, I tend to appreciate things for a long time and have been able to buy the bikes I really wanted most of the last 15 years.
There is room for a custom titanium hardtail in my life though for sure!
Already own my dream mountain bike, Mojo HD3 with 36's, XX1 & Carbon traverse fatties, wouldn't change it for anything at the moment, I absolutely love it.
Road bike, I would love a Shand Stooshie, the pale yellow one on their website is gorgeous & they looked even better at the Bristol show in the spring. Not going to happen anytime soon though I'm afraid...
I've done the carbon wonder bike thing, they're no better than a decent aluminium bike to ride, they just cost a lot more and are 300g lighter.
So I'm Happy with a decent aluminium frame, good components, and high end suspension. I guess in that regard I already have my dream bike.
Having said all that, that new trek slash 29does look good.
I think I've got mine already. The 601 does everything I could want as has a rarity about it.
There's a couple of things I might change if money were no object..
What happens to a carbon downtube when you're hooning down a track and a rock flies up and hits it hard?
What happens to a carbon downtube when you're hooning down a track and a rock flies up and hits it hard?
Nothing, the rock bounces off making a pleasing clang sound.
I couldn't settle on one bike..
I think I'd go for one of each of the Whyte '17 lineup 😆
Probably still cheaper than 1 dream machine.
Doesn't exist (probably a good thing).
The new Enduro 29er would be a contender if Spesh had made it a bit longer though.
Orange Four or Segment - even better if someone did a lighter carbon single pivot.
There's your question - if you could take one bike company and have one top-spec version of each of their bikes in your size, which company would it be?
(and no, you can't sell the ones you don't want)
THink I'd be talking to Nicolai.
if you could take one bike company and have one top-spec version of each of their bikes in your size, which company would it be?
That'd still be Liteville for me.
H-3 as a B+
101 as a 29
301 as a 27.5 (140mm)
601 as a 27.5F/26R
I'd still stick with Whyte then. Something for road, touring, CX, XC, Street/skate park, Marathon, Trails, Trail centres, Enduro & DH!
Pretty full garage mind..

Trek probably, maybe Canyon.
always wanted a Jones but never trusted ti after 2 other frame failures.
steel jones opened the door for me, took a while to decide, 3K is a lot of money to spend without a test ride.
Specialised or trek

Specialised or trek
Probably onto a winner with Spec, just on sheer number of bikes - you'd end up with cross, gravel, road, e-bike, commuter, tourer, kid's fatbikes, all sorts of stuff.
One of each, I would either go Cotic or Santa Cruz.
Ti Stanton Switchback, simple, beautiful hardtail with modern geometry. Will be a better bike than my riding will ever deserve though.
They're ace - I love mine.
It is a crazy amount of money to spend on a hardtail, but it's a lovely thing to ride. Mine's not a massively bling build, but it's a keeper.
The BOS/Enve equipped Ti Stanton is a true thing of beauty.
Bit of a lack of imagination on this thread... Spesh, Trek, some faux-boutique big brands like SC.
Not that I'm claiming to have any imagination or dream about bikes. I'd be very happy with something fairly workmanlike and off the peg such as this...
That Passoni is nice though.
Bit of a lack of imagination on this thread..
+1
I saw a documentary a while back about a lad who had a car that could turn into a robot. As if that wasn't cool enough, it made a wonderful noise when is changed shape and could fire guns and rockets and knew a bit of kung-fu. I'd like a bike that could do that. Though if possilbe instead of the guns firing bullets they could fire Kinder Buenos and KFC chicken Burgers (NOT Zingers) instead of rockets. I've got a camelbak for drinks so that's covered. Maybe a golden Camelbak?
If that ^ is the way we are going I want a gyroscopically computer controlled stunt bike that can perform any combination of jumps, flips, tricks, etc with no skill required from me. Oh and some SPDs so I can stay on it
I'd fly out to NAHBS and see what floated my boat - Custom everything !
I thought I had one of them in my Chromag Rootdown but the new Chromag Primer has meant I'm having second thoughts:

I don't really have a dream full susser though I'm sure I'd love the new Geometron 29er...and I haven't even seen it.
I'd also like a rigid "dirt tourer", custom steel, lots of braze ons, 29+, jones bars, that sort of thing. Like a Surly ECR but maybe nicer. Maybe like DrJon's 44? Oh and a custom gravelly/crossy thing, steel again. Basically a nicerer blingier version of my Jamis Renegade. 44 Bikes Huntsman or Shand Stoater could fit the bill!
Yeah, custom frame and build, Ti mtb and stainless road bike, niche wheel sizes and subtle metalwork artfulness. Bit like Dr Jon's bikes really..
EDIT - ha! beaten to it!
I saw a documentary a while back about a lad who had a car that could turn into a robot.
Mate, you know Transformers wasn't a documentary, eh?
I'm with you on the imagination thing though.
I'd like a special torch that was so powerful it could dry out the trail as I rode along - turning the slop into perfect hero dirt.
For a few years I always really fancied a Liteville 301, so now I've got one. At my age I reckon it'll be the last bike that I'll put together and, in spite of it not being as long, low and slack as seems to be fashionable now, I hope that we'll grow old(er) and unfashionable together.
I've still got my Hummingbird singlespeed too, though.
I owned my dream bike which was a bling end out Nomad 3 but much like cars sometimes the dream bike isn't the best bike to ride. Now have a Remedy 9.9 29er which was also high on my list of bikes to own but wouldn't class it as a dream bike as such. It is however the best bike that I have owned.
Loving the new Slash at the moment but don't think I'd swap my Remedy out for one,
A belonged out Stealth Black Bird Zero AM would be my dream hardtail right now. Miss riding my old Zero AM a lot.
got some cosmetic changes to make but overall, its getting there
Starling Swoop with Mojo-fettled forks and shock.

Got no dream bike - I'd need a range of bikes that do different things to be happy (and as it happens, I do.. even though they are old). However if you gave me £6k in non transferrable bike shop vouchers now, I'd get a Salsa Bucksaw I think.
Kawasaki H2R with road lights
if you could take one bike company and have one top-spec version of each of their bikes in your size, which company would it be?
Moots for road and mtb. Or possibly Indy Fab. Or Giant for carbon.
My dream road bike is really a fixed wheel 953 or titanium race geometry road bike with a rear mech hanger and the ability to install E-tap gears 8)
Current dream road bike - I know, not most people's idea of a dream, but this is a classics winner with a sublime ride.

Off-road it would probably be a carbon short travel Tall-boy 29-er. Or an Ibis bow-Ti, of course. Always loved them until I rode one. Be careful what you dream for is all I would say.
I'd like a special torch that was so powerful it could dry out the trail as I rode along - turning the slop into perfect hero dirt.
Now were [s]dreaming [/s]talking! That sounds pretty neat.
What about wheels and tyres that could change width/size depending on mood/trail. Or a time distortion button fitted to the bars so when you get a bit of air your can float for ages and pull off multiple tricks and speed up the boring climbs.
And never mind Trek/Specialized/Niche McNiche...i want my dream bike to be made by Salma Hayek while doing her vampire dance.
I would like Cy to make me a ti version of my solaris with two bottle cage bosses. It's the bike i ride all the time, from a company I like, with my two quibbles solved- a bit lighter and more storage.
If we're talking carbon wonder bikes then I'd pribably have a pivot.
