    Just because we love them; not because we necessarily have them…

    Always been partial to GSD. A very majestic breed in my mind. More robust in their crossed varients though.

    Staffies. Really suffer from bad PR but you’ll never meet a bigger bigger bunch of cuddle monkeys in your life.

    Anyone crossed a staffie and a gsd? That could be a pretty awesome dog.

    Is there anything on the planet cuter than a siberian husky puppy?

    My friends had one. Build and temprament of a nice staffie. Size of a large GSD. Terrifying when it ran at you but very lovely.

    You sure?

    I mean, not that I really give a monkey’s, but…

    While not a pure breed, it is generally a cross between a sighthound and any other non-sighthound breed,[2] usually a pastoral dog or terrier

    Greyhound=Sighthound
    Staffy= terrier.

    Maybe you should correct the Wikipedia page.

    Newfoundland – mine – probably the most impractical dog but very entertaining.

    It certainly is.

    Our Ted is a bit niche being a longdog. (Sighthound x sighthound.)

    He’s an idiot, but lovely.

    If I had my way we’d have a pack of Deerhounds / wolfhounds lolling about on our sofas. Maybe once the wee man grows up a bit… As it is, we have one lovely lurcher / terrier mongrel dog. Much loved.

    yes it is, its a chav’s lurcher though, does your mate where trackie bottoms all the time? 😆 Pit bull greyhound crosses are desirable for lamping foxes and deer. The collie cross is a far less chavy lurcher.

    I don’t think they’re actually a standalone breed, just a colour variation, but I’ve never met a white boxer I didn’t like- all slobbery, daft, strong but gentle- lovely.

    Some lovely pictures on here, but I was rather hoping for more. I should have specified that I was looking to start an eye candy thread.

    Breeds + pics please!

    I love so many breeds. Cocker and springer spaniels, for their general spaniellyness. Airdale and Welsh terriers, for being square. Huskies and malamutes for being domestic wolves. Scotties for looking like little broom ends, Schauzers for looking like permanently cross gentlemen.

    But obviously, the best dog is the Tibetan Terrier/Cocker Spaniel cross that lives with us. Sheer chance we ended up with him – we went to the Dogs Trust planning on getting possibly a collie of some sort, ended up with a former Irish stray that was found emaciated and matted (yet also completely house trained and with the most loving, beautiful nature).

    My boys!

    He also never farts, which is really, really weird.

    Can’t beat an old, heavyweight black lab… Still strong but slow and patient. Especially if they know how to do The Lean. You know, when they walk up to you and just sort of topple over against your legs, I love that.

    Yep but get a Flatcoat retriever and you have all of the above without the stink!

    Same with EBTs. Get away from the tough guy image and they are very loyal and loving as well as stupid and funny dogs.

    Golden retrievers are the best. At least my lion maned one is. Then black labs, cos that’s the OH’s dog who loves cuddles, the my lads Jack Russell is tiny, but with big attitude as she keeps the boys in check. And she sleeps on top of the retriever….brilliant members of the family.

    Black labs…..top trail dogs. This big guy is the sweetest, most gentle dog ever and does almost anything he is asked.
    His latest addition is a bright orange jacket for night rides which he loves putting on.
