I’m not buying a new bike. Definitely not. Probably, certainly.

But, the one I really like the look of is this…

I haven’t seen one in the flesh yet but I’d love to sample one. I admit that I’ve been sucked in by the marketing video of young French men joy riding and jumping all over the place. But, I kind of miss that style of riding. Current bike is a total weapon but it’s all business. Very much wheels on the ground, flat out everywhere. I just miss popping and boosting everything in sight.

It’s a lovely colour! The geometry is modern without going to extremes. Very close to the new Airdrop Edit V3 in fact, and it would probably be easier to demo one of them. Couldn’t afford to build one though.

Anyway, just looking for opinions. Someone remind me how I don’t live near any gnarly trails and how much of a pig it would be on long rides around the Peak.

    Look good 🙂

Seem good value the “signature” model pictured ^ looks good. Every one from £1899 to £3800 are listed as 15kgs ? Usually heavier in real life 😉

Does it matter if you do a Peaks ride in 2hours or 2 hours 10min ? Meh….

    Dafuq you on about bro?

Even if you bought into current battleship wheelbase fashion how you ride it is 100% down to YOU not your bike

Don’t see anything particularly special about the clash (not that that’s a bad thing). Pivot placement and geometry wise it’s basically a TREK trying not to look like a session (ironically ending up looking like a Capra)

Oh no, I’ve attracted a Geex. Whatever I say next you’ll just write a thousand word essay about why I’m wrong so I can’t be arsed.

Jeebus, does he ever stop? It’s a wonder he ever has time for riding, what with boasting about how rad he is on here all the time…

I suspect what you’re getting at is the difference between a pedal neutral suspension system (like the Spesh 4-bar) and something more reactive, like an Orange.

When I had a Big Hit, it sucked everything up and made popping off lips more difficult. When I had a Patriot, on the other hand, it flew off lips easily, but the trade-off was more pedal feedback.

    That Commencal looks lovely though!

You have a Nicolai right? It’s the reason i sold my G13. It was great at going fast but it was not particularly playful on the tighter, slower speed trails i typically ride. So no i haven’t got a clash, but i am having more fun on a bike with more conservative geometry.

I was almost sold myself until I saw Press fit BB.

    Never again.

Beyond. That, it’s one hell of a spec and looks very sexy.

My mate has the model shown in the pic up there. It is a great bike and he is flying on it. Don’t think that it can’t pedal because it is pretty damn efficient as a climber. He has had to change springs and go to supergrav tyres but that is it. The dropper is a bit pish but other than that it’s a beast.

Yeah I know. My lifelong boycott is still in effect but I’ve been impressed by the Hope conversion.

Is he anywhere near Sheffield, and can I have a blast on it?

I’ve got a G16, which is mint. It’s a keeper, I’m just getting a wandering eye. I can’t criticise it because it does exactly what they say it does. It’s the fastest, safest, most stable bike I’ve ever had. It’s also the best DH bike I’ve ever had despite owning a bunch of actual DH bikes in the past. It’s also a really good riding position for sitting and pedalling around all day.

But… the massive chainstays, and the way the front wheel is already halfway down the street when you set off, kind of dictates the way you ride it. Yeah it jumps and wheelies etc.. but it’s bloody hard work so you just kind of, don’t bother. Plus I come from BMX and hardtails so I’m used to a much more lively bike.

Like I said it’s just a ‘wandering eye’. I’ve been a one-bike-man for 2 years and I’m just starting to wish I had the option of something different. Maybe a steel hardtail, maybe a shorter, lighter FS. So when I want to just go out and ride like a goon I can.

And talk about why you need an ebike to help him feel better about being lazy.

Friend of mine has the Race model. It’s a lovely bike. Quoted weight seems about right, and the spec is good for the money. He’s much faster on it than on his old bike (a 2 year old Trance Advanced).

It’s a shame they replaced the Supreme SX with this due to it not selling well to begin with, because it’s the better bike.

Although I have heard a rumour that they are working on a 29er high pivot enduro bike.

It’s a nice bike but Commencal were making a name for themselves by building wild and out there bikes for a decent price. This is a generic euro bike.

    Uh huh?

    this sorta helped…

No commentary on why I should buy one? You’ve missed a trick.

Mate of mine just got one as insurance replacement the lucky git. He seemed pretty impressed. I think today was the first proper test on the trails so will ask and report back.

Any real world opinions, i think this will be my next bike

I like the look of the ride (base Zeb’s) but apparently the SX groupset is trash (no idea about 12 speed groupsets)

The essential is £600 more but fox performance 38 and SLX

According to mate its an absolute beats but very useable on normal trails. Went around Afan last weekend is is a regular on the Bristol trails. Its also gorgeous in the flesh.

This is one of those threads that I really regretted starting thanks to Geex. He used to come into every conversation like a wrecking ball and dump all over it!

I didn’t buy a Clash at the time but the new one looks even nicer. It does look like a beasty bike park ripper though and I just don’t have regular access to stuff like that.

I still quite fancy something a bit shorter, lighter and more playful than my main bike but I’d probably be looking at something like a Jeffsy or a Stumpjumper.

Saying that, all the new Commencals look lovely. I’d love to try a tr29, a Clash, a Furious, a Power SX etc…
