    Just packing my bike up.

Never have done before but a mate says you should.

    What do you do?

    No.

The hold is pressurised, so why would you need to?

    No, he is an idiot

No. Even if the hold was unpressurised and the plane went into outer space, you’d still only have a pressure difference of about 14psi.

Sounds like a cheap way of getting into space.

No need even to deflate tyres, they’re not going to burst (although it’s good practice to let them down a little bit as extra cushioning).

shocks/forks, I wouldn’t bother with in the slightest – an average rear shock can easily cope with 300+ psi and, even with a pressure differential, it’d only be about 20psi increase.

If airport staff ask if you’ve deflated the tyres, just say yes. None of them will have the slightest clue about suspension anyway but never ever get into a discussion over it!

they don’t ask you to de-pressurize the oil in your damping circuit do they!
