People of Bath, I’d like your help:
On Tuesday evening whilst riding home from work I hit a pothole on the Batheaston Bypass in the pouring rain and went over my handlebars. Three ladies driving past in separate cars stopped, helped me up off the floor, gave me a towel for my bleeding head and covered me with an umbrella whilst they rang for an ambulance.
Then a guy called Alex from Box stopped in his black Audi (Q5?) and offered to take me and my bike to the RUH so I didn’t have to wait for the ambulance. He loaded my wet dirty bike in to the back of his car and let bloody damp me sit on his nice leather passenger seat, drove me across Bath during rush hour and then unloaded me and the bike at A&E and waited with me until I’d been seen.
If anyone in the Bath area could share this post and see if you know any of the people who helped me I’d really appreciate it as I’d like an opportunity to say thank you properly, especially to Alex who went so far out of his way to help and even managed to keep me smiling and laughing on the way to the hospital despite the adrenaline wearing off and the pain starting to kick in.
    Thanks

No, but I know Two Ton Ted from Teddington, and he drives a baker’s van.

Anyway, good man Alex, whoever you are.

I know Chinese Charlie from Chichester but i’m afraid I don’t know Alex. Sounds like a top bloke and one I wouldn’t mind knowing, well done Alex and the ladies.

I had an awful feeling it was going to turn bad as Alex drove up in an Audi………..

I have to admit, seeing the title and reading the story through (and knowing the sort of stories that see the light of day on forums), I expected:

Then a guy called Alex from Box stopped in his black Audi (Q5?) and offered to take me and my bike to the RUH so I didn’t have to wait for the ambulance. He loaded my wet dirty bike in to the back of his car and

drove off at high speed leaving me stranded in the middle of the road…

Glad I was wrong, what a top bloke!

When I got knocked off a few years ago, drivers left me lying in the road while they drove around me.

    Edited for STW!

Then a guy called Alex from Box stopped in his black Audi (Q5?) and offered to take me and my bike to the RUH. It was then, as I was lying there wet, bloody and cold that I noticed the carbon santa cruz on the roof, so I declined and said I would wait for the ambulance.

    Seriously though, nice one Alex!

As the forums automatic stereotypical prejudice alarm goes into meltdown….

Top bloke. If anyone doesn’t mind roughing it in an Octavia, I’d like to think I’d do the same for someone if I could.

Alex sounds good – not like a big boss of a TV station who (a few years ago) had a collision with a cyclist…appeared to be a good person by scooping him up, bike into back of his car and said to all the bystanders he’d take him to A&E…then he drove ’round the corner ‘ and then turfed him out and said ‘don’t ever hit my car again!’….

There are three Alex’s on LinkedIn who work at Box. Of course, does he mean Box the company or Box the place?

I’m guessing Alex’s “Box” is the Wiltshire town
