Have a set of DHB M1 shoes. I have tried fitting a set of shimano cleats onto them but the tread is so deep that the cleat will not clip into the pedal as the tread is touching the pedal before the cleat.

Anyone else had this issue and know of a resolution

Try laying your hands on some CrankBros. cleat shims to lift the cleat off the midsole a bit. That should fix the issue though you may need longer bolts.

I've always trimmed the tread a bit if I've had this problem.

Crank Bros spacers as above or their sole savers plus longer bolts would work though.
