    That was properly great.

Wonder what caused Atherton to hit the ground so hard?

Think claudio called that one right, looked like a pedal dig- I thought he’d trapped the wheel on something but in the replay his weight went forward before the bike stopped.

Looks like they have local kids instead of podium girls as well, good on them.

but a shame we won’t get a ratboy rendition of the national anthem.

what a win for Bruni, first win and it’s the World Champs!! Hopefully next year we’ll see a bit more of that. Gee and Aarron looked like they had pretty hard crashes (both took a while to get going again)

    most popular world champ? 😀

Will Bruni be the shortest when they are all on the podium?

    jambalaya

Loic was shorter than Greg on the podiums ! Bryceland semeed to be enjoying the Marseilles too and we sung along too. Chapeau for RedBull staying live for the ceremonies

What a great race weekend from World champs, GB did really well as a whole, even if there was a few riders “missing” in some cats.
Evie Richards Silver in junior XC
The Frog, Grant Ferguson Bronze in U23 XC
Laurie Greenland wins Gold in Junior DH
    Rachel Atherton Gold woman’s DH
    Manon Carpenter Silver woman’s DH
    + Tahnee in 5th
Josh Ratboy, in Bronze Mens DH
    & Michael Jones in 4th!

    Great riding from the Brits.

Anyone notice Peaty come in and feed Bruni “Peaty” whisky? 🙂

    spacehopper

    yup.. i noticed that…

and Bruni tried to say to Peaty that he was like the opposite of him..!

ie, Bruni couldn’t win a world cup and was second loads like Peaty couldn’t win the world champs and was second for all those years..

Ruddy chuffed for Bruni too.. he really deserved that!

and such a popular win right across the paddock it seems.. everybody was happy for him! 😀

Great win for Bruni. Lovely to see everyone so thrilled for him.

Why no womens replay anywhere? I is disappoint 😥

In the end I’m really glad Bruni won but let’s hope he doesn’t go the same way as Danny Hart.

wallop – I watched the women’s replay followed by the men’s replay last night.

Some interesting stuff on the results, take a look at who was fastest in Sector 3…

But nearly 5 seconds back in sector 1.

He did look ridiculously fast at the bottom, and he’d pulled back a couple of seconds in s2 before his crash apparently. Though different rules apply once you’re out of the race.

Don’t think he was on for a winner but, definitely interesting the way he smashed the hardest part, I think people expected him to be the other way round

Ah, Gwin. Sorry, I obviously didn’t scroll down far enough.

Awesome race and result! Great to see Loic get his win and on such an occasion.

Proper decent finish for Mike Jones too.

let’s hope he doesn’t go the same way as Danny Hart.

He’s a very different rider to Hart. Looks much more of a natural athlete and he’s already shown he’s got impressive consistency.

You could hear him saying “I hit my pedal” to Minnaar when he came down

what’s with the reving chainsaws ?

It does seem to have become a thing, it has been going on for a few years at some races, but this year it has been at most races. I think it is just a mind numbingly dull way to try and get some screen time on the coverage while annoying everyone within earshot.

I quite liked the revving chainsaws at Hafjell last year. Perhaps the novelty has worn off

Reminds me of air horns at Eastern European football matches. They don’t create atmosphere, they just make noise.

what’s with the reving chainsaws ?

My guess is they’re more macho than a cowbell or wheel rim and associated with trail building

I was more bothered by the Minnar supporter in the budge smugglers

like the vuvuzela at WC2010 – made it unwatchable almost

Sounds and smells like a motorbike. Braaap etc. I saw it years ago in a video of a race at Whistler. So now it has to be done everywhere. At every race.

Special mention must go to the guy at Fort William this year who kept an eye on the start list and only started/revved the Chainsaw for british riders. Yeah, you go for it man. That’s the spirit 🙄

I was very happy for Loic, he really deserved a win and seems a cool guy. Mike Jones did one hell of a run too.

Shame about Pompon and Tahnee crashing but it would have been tough to beat Rachel who is just a DH monster
