Please tell me you're not in Glasgow??
That looks disgusting.
Let us know if they taste any better?
That looks like something you'd find here: http://www.theguardian.com/sport/gallery/2015/apr/06/meat-cheese-and-lots-of-calories-mlb-stadium-foods-in-pictures
Verdict?
Better than a Mars bar?
Don't knock it till you've tried it.
Not nice.
If you weren't scottish before, you are now
Oh well, at least you tried. Mars bar is a goodun though. As is ice cream (wrapped in syrup and corn flakes).
The chippy in Dunkeld does a deep fried sweet of the week special - grim as.
I've never seen deep fried chocolate in my life. I reckon it's an east coast tourist gimmick.Northwind - Member

A delicacy of deepest darkest Epsom. £6 to you squire.
looks a bit more like deep fried dog eggs from that pic 😯
Did they take the foil off?
Ooh , my fillings are wincing thinking about it.
Not nice.
Indeed - the new taste Cadbury's chocolate is a travesty.
Probably ok with a liberal dosing of salt, just to finish the arteries off
What's the weird garnish?
^this
Who ever suggested scotland with salad clearly in view needs a talking to.
The connoisseurs choice if you live in the Podsmead area of Gloucester. Also on that chippy's menu is deep fried pizza, and... deep fried chips. My mate had the deep fried chips once - an almost inedible thick stodgy modge of batter and chips all in one big coronary-inducing lump
Deep fried pizza is called a pizza crunch.
I had deep fried mars bar once, 1998 I think it was, from a chippy on the sea front in Bondi Beach, Aus!!
I had deep fried haggis in Edinburgh, that was lovely.
Where is the Scottish Side Salad? (Chips)
I remember having one of these in Bournemouth when I was at college. It was rough, 60p it cost, and it meant i didnt have enough for a battered sausage. Gutted
Anyone else had a chip pie? Chippie in south bridge used to do scotch pie cases which they'd fill with whatever you asked for- chicken curry was good, doner kebab if you were pissed, coleslaw if you were weird, that sort of thing. Chip pie was the obvious conclusion. You can't actually get many chips in a scotch pie so they got the extra brown crunchy little ones out of the bottom of the fryer. MMMMMMMM chip pie
The chippy in peebles (the dodgy looking one) does a lovely "wolfdog"
Mmm I fancy a chip pie now, or just a classic chip butty would do. WTF is a 'wolfdog'? Kens Burger Van on the A38 south of Gloucester does a Cheesy Pig. Haven't tried one yet due to his breakfast baguettes being the best £3.50 money can buy.
Iirc a wolfdog is a sausage wrapped in bacon, wrapped in cheese then battered. Locals might correct me I've never dared to have one!
Battered haggis is lovely though
"What's the weird garnish?"
Thats what Paula Deen would refer to as 'a little vegetable'
I had deep fried haggis in Edinburgh, that was lovely.
my greasy spoon here in ayrshire has just added it to the menu and the haggis they use has really light in texture - its spectacularly good.
just a classic chip butty would do.

Pizza crunch - well you couldn't make a 99p Ross pizza any worse...
Battered haggis is my go-to for a chippy. black pudding if I know it's a good one.
seosamh - guessing you're west coast? Never thought we did them either till I found out the Kings Cafe in Glasgow does Mars bars. Honestly worth a try as it's much better than it sounds.
Chippie in Exmouth (can't remember the name, maybe Yunki can help) did...
Battered chips.
There is / was a chippy near wolves that did their chips with a thin coat of spicy batter
and... deep fried chips.
My local chippy does deep fried chips with everything.
So does every chippy I've ever been in.
That's how to cook chips 😉
Aren't all chips deep fried?
That was my point.
See, not reading all the responses has made me look silly....

Krispies! Personally I preferred normal chips but Krispies didn't feel as unhealthy as they sound.
Hmm. Only do baked beans fritters or pea fritters at my local but they do cook everything in lard.....
don't eat there much as I'm a health freak but when I have a yearning for it yummmulicous....
used to love scrumpies as a kid.......
Deep fried in batter clever-clogses
That's it ell_tell! Miss those chips; lovely.
Aren't all chips deep fried?
If they're not they're just potatoes. 😀
Battered chips - hmmm, that sounds like something I need to try.
Personally very fond of cheesy chips with extra mayo, and deep-fried battered mushrooms are pretty tasty, too, but I draw the line at anything that has chocolate anywhere about its person.
They really were very good. Never figured out why it never took on, bit niche I guess but very nice.
That said, I'm graced with the best chip shop I've ever known, right where I live now in West Yorks (and in my youth I worked at Hanbury's, Torquay 8) )

Do tell Maccruiskeen, whereabouts?
The Bridge Cafe in Catrine - its not on the menu yet but you can get it if you ask nicely. They love you to death there - the portions are huge.
Yum, I'll have to pop in after the next Catrine night ride!.
Yum, I'll have to pop in after the next Catrine night ride!.
You'll be lucky - they close at 3pm 🙂
The various eateries in the village are careful not to step on each others toes so Gavin closes the cafe before the evening takeaways open. The tiny chipshop next-door but one to the Bridge Cafe is good (and cheap) in the evenings - Dawn the new proprietor is a keen bicyclist too.
