Is it possible to daytrip Calais by mountain bike from dover ? Im thinking of crossing the sea for some new off road trails. Any links to sites showing trails etc ?

Better if you take a road bike.
One of our lot sorts out these £11 deals to Calais. WE then spend the day riding along the old coastal road, before heading inland and back north.
    We have a great day.

Ive done it before and just headed for the countryside with a map. There were marked tracks and it was very pleasant.

This is probably worth a look too

As above, went last year with a road group and went across as a foot passenger for £12. We road inland to Montreal, had lunch there and then came back to Calais on the coast road.
This coastal road is a good test with some good climbs and is windy.

No pics knottie8, but I have thought about it. Though a glance at the surrounding countryside made me think of Isle Of Wight meets Salisbury Plain.
We ride down to Boulogne Sur Mer, then South East to Wiggenene?? then up until paralel to Calais.

As a club we do it every year, park in Dover then as foot passengers across to Calais, ride down to Wissant and back again. About 35 miles 60% off road.

If you want a GPS file then let me know.

    These pics are from 2008

What about a cider tour on mountain bikes from La Harve – needs a weekend but will be fun 😀
