has anyone torn or damaged theirs?

the reason I ask is my dog has torn his and due to other problems can’t have surgery to fix it yet, basically I want to know how much it hurts, as not done it myself I don’t know, the dog is on pain killers but as any dog, he is jumping about and being silly, I want to know how much it hurts or not for my own mind,

the vet says to let him do what he want’s as we can’t stop it going completely but I can hear it clicking when he walks, I keep thinking “that must hurt!”

    can anyone enlighten me?

I tore mine andmy Jack Russell tore his.For what its worth it seemed to bother me more than it did him.The smaller the dog the better and the more chance he’ll make a full recovery without surgery (i didn’t,he did).Oscar was on pain killers for a week and used to lift his bad leg up a fair bit,but made a full recovery after a couple of months.

    Sorry, but are you serious?

From my experience of the surgery and rehab I think it’s silly that animals are even offered this… sorry, their owners are offered it. Having a torn ACl doesn’t stop you doing 90% of activities, doesn’t hurt except when your knee actually gives way.. and when that happens you soon learn to hold back. Dogs are smart enough to do the same!!!

The “clicking” is more likely coming from damaged cartilage. Mine stopped after a year or so.

The surgery is going to cause a hell of a lot more distress and suffering than the lack of an ACl.
