I’ve given up trying to create a course using Garmin Connect.  Although it uses Google Maps, when I search for a location I’m just being shown quite a wide area of map, presumably centred on the location, but I still have to zoom all the way in and click on the map to set a course point. Connect also doesn’t seem to use the layer that includes businesses, so knowing where to click is tricky.

Google Maps just seems to work – type in two addresses and off you go. But of course Google Maps just wants you to use an android phone and doesn’t appear to have any sort of export option. Can I take a route from Google Maps and turn it into a course for my Garmin Edge?

This site will convert Google maps to a gpx that you can use with a Garmin.

Cycle.streets is a better option than Google for cycle specific routing.

I also use gpx.studio for building routes. But you need to know where you want to go.
