This is sounding better, just gonna check the timings and will decide in the morning. Managed to get one of the last Spesh Pitch’s. Can’t wait to give it a outing.

curtis – there will be options of missing out one or two loops if that helps. There’s some great tracks in the Chilterns 🙂

Well, what a day! Great to meet so many new people and glad that the first-time visitors to the Chilterns were suitably impressed with the quality of the trails 🙂

Sorry for lecturing before we started riding but feel extremely strongly that other trail users should not have an opportunity to moan about mountain bikers. Smiley faces rule but confess to being so disappointed at the number of walkers on the Warnscombe Lane descent – that needs to be ridden f a s t 8)

I see that the pub are serving London Pride again and what a test of willpower! Always nice to finish up there and natter about the day’s riding.

Thanks again to the Chiltern locals who helped – nickc and r6ymy – and also those who volunteered.

Good pics Neil, that’s another top-notch Chilterns descent!

Neil I love your motor, I was at the wheels event too, I took my 1953 Morris Oxford MO along.

Its always a great evening there with so many different and varied vehicles to look at.

Great to meet you all, and thanks for the organisation…and the inner tubes. Can’t remember the last time I flatted twice in a ride. It was good to not have the silliest car for a change :-). Witney chaps…got your card, thanks. Kids allowing, would be great to tag along sometime. Pete…have a great time in the Alps! Cheers.

Big grin on the face of Neil (me) and John today. Thanks to everyone that organised and doled out the flapjack.

I think the conjestion on the Warnscombe Lane descent might have been my fault. Last time I rode that, I shredded a rear tire. I may be jinked.

Hope to see some of you again sometime on another STW Forum ride.

Nice to ride with a big group even if we did get split up later. Was good to ride with new faces even if I can’t remember half of your names! 😳 Be good to do another ride soon. I was the one on the blue inbred.

yeah thanks for organising that cinnamon girl. Great day.

My legs are tingling for more… or is that the stingers & brambles!

an idea so the group doesn’t have to split could be to do an extended loop for the faster riders while the others have lunch/drink/break

I mentioned it to a few riders, but for anyone who didn’t hear/see leaflets there is a British Heart Foundation charity ride in the Chilterns with lots of nice singletrack.
    see http://www.bhf.org.uk/get_involved/take_part_in_our_events/event_finder/view_event.aspx?ps=1000437

& thanks for the lift home boobs – I only got a small telling off (as people were already here so she couldn’t go mental).

Thanks to everyone who proposed and organised yesterdays ride. It was a great turnout! A pleasant surprise to see some familiar faces from way back (and some unusual bikes, fellow one-gear-wonders! Props to Ade for piloting such an oddity…)
Looking forward to the next one.

Thanks all for a good day out. Think a started to regret the choice of riding the round trip from Oxford to Watlington on about mile 5 of my journey home. Does anyone have a rough idea of how far we went (given that the group ended up on about three differing rides by the end of it :D)

    Anyone know the puncture tally?

Sorry but I can’t remember everyone’s names either 😳 But it was easy for you guys cos there were only two girlies on the ride 😀

smudge – will send you a gpx route, and some others too.

singletracksurfer – you beat me to it!

I think nickc behaved himself – does he not normally then?

37.5km with 850 meters of climbing if you dropped down to the Hollandridge trail after Northend, nr the end of the ride.

    36km & 780 meters climbing, if you didn’t.

Lovely to meet some old friends and make some new ones. Thanks to those that made it happen. Loved the local history lessons from James. Really enjoyed pedaling back home and subsequent guilt-free calorie-binge :^)
