    Afternoon,

    I’m looking to make a patch for a cracked steel Salsa chainstay and wondering what steel is best to use? I’ve got a welder who will do the job but want to get the patch cut and shaped first to save him the faff as he’s doing me a favour.

    Does anyone have any spare steel chain stays or tubing I could use? Alternatively any suggestions on what else I could bastardise?

    Thanks Chris

    No problem for some tube offcuts. I’ve hopefully replied to your message on the wonderful system…..

    Is the line further to the left on the last picture also a crack?  I guess not as it kinks back, but it if has picked up the tube seam?

    Thanks all. @swampi nowhere near you but thanks for the offer. @daffy no, thankfully that’s just discolouration from the chemical dipping that I need to clean up. Just the one crack and the other chainstay seems fine.

    @mick_r
    is looking after me and hopefully getting me up and running again.
