Nope rear light. If it was a number plate bulb that would be unstandable (as its something you’d easily miss).

    Do a search 😉

Thanks all, advice noted. I will avoid (I usually do!)
I had tried two recommended garages on VW forums
    – one did not fit the tyres requested, even though I asked at a weeks notice, and was told they would be (the tyres were ‘borderline’, and I knew that over the three weeks post service, we would cover about 5k…)
    – the second serviced & MOT’d the Toyota, mrs_oab went to collect and they tried to fob her off with a new headlight they needed to fit, as the old ones ‘did not adjust’ and so was MOT failure. The garage was close to my work, so mrs_oab asked me down. I reached in and twisted the adjuster with a screwdriver…
    .
I am going to try out DandG that grey suggested.

Don’t do it……………I had to go to our local one twice many years ago when I had a company car and the company accountant said we had to go there, utter rubbish, I wouldn’t trust them to change the ink in a fountain pen.
We have local independents who are far better as they know what they’re talking about and cheaper too.

I’ve used the Fishponds and Salisbury branches for tyres, exhausts and MOTs only.

They pointed out issues I knew (blowing mid-section, broken manifold mount, missing locating bits on the alloys) but never upsold me. The last time I used them was for an MOT, and despite having a full advisory section, they passed my car. One advisory was that it had a nail in a tyre!

Friendly and fast has been my experience of kwikfit.

+1 for D&G. I’ve used Inverkeithing and Dunfermline in the past with no issues. I wouldn’t get anything too in depth done, but for tyres, MOT, exhausts etc they are great. The Inverkeithing one even does class 7 MOT’s which was great for me at the time.

Unless there is air absolutely gushing out, that is all you can do is advise it. Sounds crazy, but that’s one of the oddities of the mot test.

+1 for D&G, they’ve done the MoTs on my last 3 cars, and my current bangeromics VW has been kept on the road by them doing a fantastic job and not once fleecing me with the kwik fit tried and tested “you came in for a puncture repair but your whole brake system is knackered” approach
