Looking for recommendations for the above for me and the wife. Preferably flatish and with a pub or two within walking distance. Nothing fancy needed as long as there’s toilets and a shower.

Lanefoot is the best I’ve come up with so far, any other little hidden gems?

There is a campsite in Keswick itself. Overnighted there myself the other weekend when on an MTB weekend. Right in the middle of Keswick on the shores of Derwent water. Pretty top notch campsite so not the cheapest at £15 each but about 5 mins walk into the centre of Keswick for a plethora of decent pubs and eateries.

The campsite in Keswick is a perfect location but the ridiculous rules about when you can check in (must be there by 7pm, don’t care if you’re travelling 4 hours, no you can’t get your mate’s pitch even if he can’t get there till 9) spoil it.

Scotgate at Braithwaite is pretty good with average pubs close by and an easy bus or brisk walk (via the infinitely preferable Farmer’s Arms in Portinscale) into Keswick.

Castlerigg Farm, on the hill. There’s 2 campsites on the same lane, it’s the one on the left. Doesn’t quite meet your requirements for a pub but it is a good compromise. It’s set up on the hill above Keswick, there are awesome views of Skiddaw from all of the site, pitch your tent with the doot facing it. 2 massive fields to pick your plot, excellent clean toilets/showers and little shop. There’s a cafe on site. There used to be a little bar open but not sure it is any more, it wasn’t very nice in there anyway.
A stroll down through the woods takes you right into Keswick for drinks n dinner and then taxi back.
You can ride up to Walla Crag from the gate for the cheeky start to the bash route.
Nice walk over to Castlerigg stone circle.

    +1 for Castlerigg.

Good spot Jekkyl has pretty much covered it. We stayed at the Hall campsite. VG facilities as well. Ate at the Hayloft 2 nights we were there. Great home cooking. Good beer. The walk down into town through the woods is not bad and we even walked back with 7 & 10 year old kids.

Would stay there again as they say.

    Definitely NOT fancy https://www.setmabanningcaravanpark.co.uk/

Cracking cafe in village, pub/restaurant (booking a must), buses to Keswick or Penrith from village and it’s an easy walk.

http://www.scotgateholidaypark.co.uk/ Very good, minutes away from pubs and a shop, just down the road from Whinlatter. Nice cafes in Portinscale an easy walk/bike. Buses if you wish to leave the 🚘

Have stayed in both Castlerigg sites, both good. The “posh” one also has a good cafe/restaurant (booking essential)

Wee bit out of the way and a car journey to pubs:
