I’m after a new tow bar mounted rack.
Looked at Thule first as I trust the brand. In my experience their stuff lasts. Quite like the idea of the folding racks for easy storage in the garage (or car boot on occasion) when not in use (i.e.Thule Easy Fold 931). Pricey at ~£500 but I will be keeping it for years and get a lot of use out of it. 2 bike capacity is fine.

roofbox.co.uk also has ‘Buzz’ brand racks. The folding type (Scorpion) is half the price of the Thule and thus tempting. So, couple of questions:

Anyone got experience of using these folding type racks in practice?
Anyone used/owned the Buzz rack, and what do you think of it?

Nothing to add about the ‘Buzz’ racks but one consideration might be spares availability; I’ve got a Thule towball mounted rack that must be six years old now but spares are readily available, cheaply, on eBay..?

I’ve got a Buzzrack Quattro. I’m a Thule fanboy for sure but couldn’t bare spending £500 on the Thule 4 bike carrier, so went for the Buzzrack. The build quality is very very good – very robust, so much heavier than the Thule equivalent – I think it’s 20KG, but build quality is up there with Thule if not quite as refined. For example the attachment mechanism is not quite as convenient as the single-action lever you get with the more expensive options, but that doesn’t matter as I can install my removable towbar, bike rack and 4 bikes in about 10 to 15 minutes. It is steady as a rock when installed and I actually think the design is much better than the Thule and Atera and similar models. Not sure about spares, but I can’t imagine breaking anything or anything wearing out as it is definitely built to last. Definitely recommended.

    Sounds positive Wobbli. Thanks.

Whilst it maybe a solid piece of kit, keep the tow bar max loading weights in consideration.

Most cars are 75 kg, bear the bike carrier in mind as well as the bikes

    I have a Buzzrack from Roofbox.co.UK.

    It is excellent.

I’ve had one for a few years. Excellent bit of kit. Weight is the only downside for me. Roofbox have always had the spares I’ve needed and they have been free or very cheap. Great company from my experience. I’d have another one.

Another positive for Buzzrack from me, have a 3 bike carrier, a few years old now but spares still available from roofbox.

I have a buzz rack quattro, went to the alps with 4 bikes on back no problem,, had it 2 years, only thing i don`t like is the straps but i can live with it for the that price.
