Also what kind of guy comments / critisises the colour / finish of another mans bike?

    Really??

    This is STW… 🙂

    Glad they sorted it.

Still most would within warranty for less RRP

nice to hear they sorted it, but as an owner of a 2009 Alpine I’d prefer it if it didnt crack. Cant see any pics on this computer, did it crack around the weld vent hole, a source of failures that they changed for later models?

    Now that service….unlike Giant.[\quote]

Really?? I’ve had giant help me out twice in a week for free with things that were not even covered by warranty. But back OT that is a good show by Orange like.

I’m glad they sorted it for you but that’s the exact opposite of a friends experience with them. He had a crack in the same place on a different frame, sent it back and then ended up having a massive battle to get it back as they said it was unsafe and wouldn’t allow him to have it back so they cut through the offending part with a band saw! They then charged him for a new back end!
The rationale was that he’d ridden it too hard! He does ride well but there wasn’t a scratch on it and it wasn’t one that’s been dropped off the end of the earth.
Oh well, luck of the draw by the sounds of it.

If you haven’t cracked at least one frame in your MTB career, you’re doing it wrong

One of the most sensible comments on the thread so far

Phew, I’ve not cracked one but then again my career is in engineering not sic-radeneering so thats fine. 🙄

Another happy customer here. Have been over to Halifax a few times as I don’t live too far away and the customer service has always been ace. Usually it’s just been for advise or a spare but they always take the time to let you waffle on. I’ve never cracked an Orange frame btw.

I’m defo an Orange fan having riden them since the early 90’s and have a certain brand loyalty but have had/considered other bikes in the past. The cs I’ve had in the last 5 or so years will keep me on their bikes from now on though. I don’t even have a Audi and never have 😮 😯

I’ve cracked 5 bikes now including a Trek Liquid, Felt F5, Scott Strike, 5 and Alpine. Maybe I ride them slightly differently to you ?

Clumsily? Or you keep buying an inappropriate bike? 😛

I had a similar story with Orange, but they could’ve told me to sod off much easier! I bought a too good to be true Patriot frame off eBay for £400, and took it in for a re-paint. Couple of days later they rang me saying it was cracked and to send it back to the seller. Luckily the seller refunded it and I got my £400 quid back. Couple more days later I got an e-mail from Ben, saying he’d found a Blood frame that I could have for the same price as I bought my knackered Patriot one. They re-painted it a colour of my choice (neon orange – MY EYEES!) all for just £400! Top service if you ask me, but I do live in Halifax 🙂

Odd thing with me is the only 3 bikes that have gone pop on me were Marins 2 Titaniums and one team issue all while i was XC racing only weighing 10.5 stone fully kitted up and the bikes were only raced.Yet now i can jump a bike and do all sorts of stuff on them and have no problem with various makes over the years.TREK/Kona/Cove/Litespeed/etc.

Also going to call bull’s excrement on this.

When my original NRS cracked, Giant’s warranty back up was superb. Utterly superb.

Never had an Orange. I do drive an Audi from time to time, though. 😳

Good service from Orange but then they really need to do something extra to justify the price tag.

MisterFrostie’s 5 is more than bright enough to offset his more subtle Alpine.

Nice to hear some good news stories from Orange warrenty, as theres some pretty grim tales out there, i know of a few very unhappy ex customers.

😀 You got that right. I’d post a pic of it up but I can’t be arsed 😉

Been up Stainburn on the Alpine tonight and it’s back to its brilliant best. Filing cabinet or not, it’ll be ripping down the Alpe D’Huez in a few weeks time whilst the vast majority of the colour critics are sat on here looking for somethign else to slag off.

Jeez, that 5 is an awful colour. Would look better in a polished ally effect silver powder coat…

that is excellent customer service, but (in the spirit of BBC style balance) with designs that are 20 years old and really high prices, they probably have the margins to cover the cost

Steve, we saw a lad on a dayglo orange with matching rims at Stainburn. Very nice indeed 🙂

Shame the timely delivery of new bikes doesn’t match their customer service in other areas.

A mate ordered a Five Pro with a paint colour upgrade but no other upgrades and was told 2 weeks for delivery. 5 weeks on and there is still no sign of it or ETA. Apparently excuses so far have included shortage of parts and the staff were going to Fort William for the UCI Downhill.

My 2 year old Orange Alpine started playing up a bit a couple of weeks ago, creaking and making generally horrible noises under power.
Flipping it over I noticed a very think black line on the rear swingarm that looked like it might have been a crack.
I chucked the bike in the boot and took it over to Orange HQ where Ben took a really good look at it and confirmed a crack. He asked how quickly I needed it back as they’d need to replace the swingarm and if I could wait they’d strip the front end to check for further cracks and I could therefore have a colour change.
Anyway, just got my bike back today, completely refinished in their new polished ally effect silver powder coat, new bottom bracket because mine was gritty and new cables.
Absolutely stunning service from Orange, exceptionally helpful throughout and a huge reason why I’ll never buy anything other than an Orange. This isn’t the first time I’ve had warranty issues with Orange and they have absolutely blown every other company I’ve ever dealt with for ANYTHING clean out of the water. They absolutely go right out of their way to make you happy. When I had an issue with my 5 year old 5 and whilst they could have shrugged and told me to sod off based on the age of the frame, they sold me a new frame for half price, chucked in a custom colour upgrade, maxle upgrade and Kashima RP23 upgrade. They also stripped and rebuilt the bike with new cables and even chucked in a new seatpost and headset.
I’ve got a 5, an Alpine and a P7. They’re all fabulous bikes and whilst they’re not the cheapest, they all ride great, are superbly simple and Orange’s backup is absolutely stunning and just makes for the icing on the cake.

That’s all well and good, but your tyre logos aren’t aligned with your valves.

Another big thumbs up for Orange here: superb bikes, robust and reliable, and fantastic service if you do ever need their help.

    Please don’t feed the trolls

I love my 5 too, bought it second hand so I’m not fussed about the high initial costs you all whinge on about. Weirdly I’ve never broken it so had no call to deal with the Orange customer service team.

    Old styling: not bothered.
    Heavy: yeah, so am I.
Better designs: well go ride them then, some people enjoy different things and it’s not the end of the world!

Glad to hear someone with good news for once.

Offer poor customer service and you receive a slagging for it on a forum.

Silver looks great if you match it up to some coloured handlebars, wheels and seatpost.

Get some yellow rims, yellow bars, yellow seatpost and yellow brake lines.

Bloody hell I love that neon orange. Tempted to get my Enduro coated in that colour now. Maybe when the bearings need changing next.

Another fan of Giant’s warranty here. Cracked the frame on my Anthem while on a business trip in Japan, sent a few pictures back to the Giant store in the UK, they sorted everything with Giant who supplied a new (upgraded) frame for when I returned, all sorted within 2 hours of dropping the frame off.
Yes it was a pain the frame cracked but the customer service was brilliant!
