Mostly, I don’t mind the rubber band out of the box garmin mount, but they do tend to move about especially after the bands are a bit older. Ideally i’d like a bold on version of eactly the same thing, but I can’t find anything. I guess it might need a sight bit of rise in it to clear a bulky stem, wheras the band on version just stretches a bit to squeeze it on.
So this leaves a top cap style mount as an interesting option. The fixed k-edge looks like an interesting options, but £25 seems quite a lot for a tiny cnc’d piece.
I have a reverse mounted “out front” on my longer stemmed XC bike, but that’s way to long for a modern short stemmed bike.
    Any other options?

I’ve got a couple of those SRAM reverse mount jobs. They don’t work well if you have a short stem or if the stem is angled down as the underside of the mount fouls the stem or top cap and your Garmin screen ends up angled away from you. Work well with say 60-70mm+ stems angled up though.

Garmin do a Mountain Bike Mount that is designed to fit like a reversed out front mount and is adjustable for angle. Ideal for use with a short stem.

JRC do stem mounted ones – bolt into the face plate. Nice range of colours.

I’ve got quite a flat top tube on one bike so the standard mount fits nicely on that and doesn’t budge.

I ran a cheap top cap mount from ebay for ages, but recently upgraded it to a k-edge. Only because the cheap one never had a very firm lock on my Wahoo and it would wiggle squinty during a ride. I bought a new K-Edge insert to pop into it but found that it was too big for my top cap, so I just went ahead and bought a K-Edge top cap. It’s an expense that’ll be forgotten in no time I guess,

You may find you need to run a 5mm (I prefer 10mm) spacer on top of your step if you have a short stem, in order for your computer to clear the faceplate (I needed to on a 40mm Renthal Apex stem).

    Barfly MTB mount https://barflybike.com/collections/mountain-bike-mounts/products/bar-fly-4-mtb

You get ALL the GPS attachment options, plus go pro, plus light Oring.

Can mount it forwards or backwards over the stem.

I have mine forwards as I have the EDC tool but would have it over the stem if not.

I have a bar-fly 3 on my xc bike (70mm stem). Is the 4 shorter? in which case it’ll probs work nicely with shorter stems.

Just measured mine, it’s 33mm from the centre of the bar clamp to the centre of the GPS mount plate.

This little badboy sticks to the top tube behind the stem, where its out the way of most crashes. I destroyed my garmin going OTB when I had it mounted to the bars. Got to thank Tracey of this parish for the tip!
