Bloody inconsiderate drivers

As I left the office at lunchtime to get a bite to eat I saw that someone had parked right across the access to our car park (turned out he was visiting someone at a nearby house as my colleague had gone to find out who had blocked them from getting out of the car park).

I wandered off to the shops and saw the guy then almost have a crash as he tried to pull out of a junction into an oncoming car and by the time I got to the shop I saw his car now parked (or should I say dumped as it was so badly positioned) in a disabled bay as he went in to get himself a sandwich.

Makes my bloody blood boil it does – I was *so* tempted to say something to him. Asshat. Why are people so inconsiderate?

Western civilization is sadly a prime breeding ground for selfish muppets.

My particular gripe these days, as its seems a quite recent phenomenon is the driver who waiting on a side road to TR onto a main road, pulls in front of the oncoming traffic forcing them to stop while they wait for a gap from the other direction to pull into.

They are basically saying…I can’t be bothered to wait, so you can! Twankers! 👿

There is a Twitter site / website called yplac. You park like … You get the idea. You could post a photo of his car there.

Yes had similar pulled out from side street to get into second lande of a dual carriageway then called me the c word w – their child in the back of the car- and then said why could i not be more patient and just wait. I laughed as she got more cross then asked her who had the give way so who had to learn to be more patient

One of those many many road users these days care only for their wnj journey and have no interest how it impacts on others – see also not bothering to indicate.jumping lights, parking etc.

Yep, in a journey of approx 4 miles on Saturday I had 2 very near high speed misses while going 270 degrees around a roundabout. Got halfway round and the car coming the opposite way at approx 60mph doesn’t stop at the giveway line and almost ploughs straight into the rear quarter of my car.

Twice this happened in 4 miles!!!!

This was middle of the day so lights weren’t on (indicators all working fine).

I had suggested on here a couple of months back that it was cars that were to blame, but I will revise that to say car culture turns people into inconsiderate asshats. I flipping HATE it!

People using my (otherwise empty) lane to bypass the queue in the other lane.
Not only are they cheating all the people who have waited patiently at the lights in the correct lane, but they also sit blocking my lane, so I CAN’T THEN GO WHEN THE **** LIGHT IS GREEN.

I see that quite a lot, a bloke in a white van pulled out of a filling station just along the road from me the other morning, wanting to head north, which means pulling into traffic on the left. To do so he pulled out, almost into the other lane heading south, and waited for an oncoming vehicle to stop, so he could complete the turn, meanwhile blocking a bunch of other cars which in turn part blocked a roundabout with five roads connecting to it.
Clot.

Not so much bad driving as stupid parking, but, the other day as I was unloading at a shop, this young girl pulls onto double yellows with the 2 stripes on the kerb. I told her the police lady is around the corner and I’d be careful if I was you, she muttered something and said I’ll park where I like. Ok I thought and carried on unloading, so off she toddles to the shops. Here comes the police lady who promptly puts a ticket on the car, and then stops to chat to someone.
About 10 minutes later here comes the girl, so the police lady points out the ticket and says dont park there in future, the girl starts ranting and raving about how she’s been gone less than a minute and she’s perfectly entitled to park there for that amount of time. Police lady tries to explain she cant stop there at all, but she’s having none of it. The girl gets more and more animated, until she finally threw the ticket at the police lady, and drove off in such a tizz that the officer only just managed to get out of the way instead of being mowed down.
Police lady straight on the blower to hq who I imagine were at the chavs house waiting for her on her return.
It was incredible how absolutely mental this girl went over practically nothing, and no doubt will end up in much deeper water than just a parking ticket.
Incidentally I know the officer in passing, so I’ll ask her what happened when I see her next.

She should have put her hazards on. Parking laws don’t count if you have some little orange lights blinking.

Nearly been ploughed down twice today crossing minor roads at t junctions as drivers on main Rd turn without indicating.

Boils my piss on roundabouts too.

Rockapes thing is even worse when they put s hand up to say thanks/sorry.

the number of people who cant change a light bulb – be it headlight/sidelight , or brake light …. it just seems to be beyond about 50% of the population of this area….

I suspect that quite a few people think the little blue light on their dashboard is for winter lights.

See also people joining the motorway expecting the traffic to all move out of their way, instead of them altering their trajectory to slide nicely into a gap. I’ll always move out if I can, that’s just courtesy, but it’s not always possible.

The other thing that’s common is people driving around with no lights on save for the DRL’s. Presumably due to the dashboard lights permanently on. That’s poor design/type approval as well as awareness.

I’m glad you’ve said that. The number of one-eyed vehicles I’ve (luckily) seen lately has been astounding. I thought it was just confirmation bias.

I’ve been driving for almost a quarter of a century in cars from ‘brand new’ to ’13 years old’ and the distance I’ve covered with a headlight out must be in the order of yards.

I suspect there are a couple things at play there.

Firstly, it’s just the time of year. Bulbs going through more extreme temperatures and being used more. I changed the headlight bulb in the Missus’ car last Sunday and then mine went pop on Tuesday. 👿

Secondly, changing bulbs on some modern cars is now a complete and utter faff that involves disassembling half the wing and grille – which is often held together by annoying snappy plastic clips and Torx heads, instead of nice simple slot head bolts.

(I driven with a blown headlight since Tuesday because I just didn’t want to faff around in the dark, cold and rain trying to replace it. It’ll be getting done tomorrow in the daylight).

Agreed on the DRL’s being on gives the driver the impression of headlights.
Dashboard all lit up and a glow imediately in front of the car, but nothing behind.
I th they should not switch on the dash lights so the driver cannot se the dials, then eventually twig they are running dark.
Also think the wattage of the DRLs should be added to the headlight and main beam loadings.
With LED emitters now putting out so many lumens 6 or 8 3w Led emittters pumping out even 100 lumens per watt is a big addition to the 45 /55 watts the headlamps are limited to

Motorway/dual carriageway driving just generally boils my piss.

People driving bumper to bumper, even when they can see traffic trying to join, then slam on the brakes at the last minute, forcing the rest of the motorway to stop with them.

And people who just have to be off or on at the exact very start of the slip road (even if it comprises of an entire lane 1 mile long). Used to be one on the way to work, and every single morning people would stop at the start of a 1/4 mile slip lane, and wait for somebody to let them out, rather than continuing with the speed of traffic and gliding in seamlessly.

Those are the two main reasons it takes me **** ages to get to work on a morning.

I completely concur with this. Used to be a terrible road for it on my old commute. But it’s not always black and white. There are plenty of instances where queuing in one lane is completely stupid and ends up impacting on traffic elsewhere. Or like the one on my current commute where you have traffic queuing half a mile back in the bus lane… I don’t fully understand that one. They must realise they are breaking the law, AND waiting longer.

It’s like some sort of rash round here, it must be catching. That and the number of people who drive around with sidelights + fogs or the ones with no lights at all.

The design in my Focus seems pretty sensible and achieves the same thing: the headlight and foglight controls are on the same dial. If you want foggies then you have to turn the dial to the Headlight On position and then pull it out (one stop for front fogs, two stops for front+back fogs).

You can’t turn the dial from that position until you push back in again.
This also means you can’t only have the fogs on.

Do they restrict headlight power by measuring watts? No wonder headlights are getting brighter then. Why don’t they use lumens?

So often I have given up moaning. It’s not just drivers. Cyclists too. Half the paths round here have been screwed but fwits who think its fine to “improve” a track to suit them. That usually means getting a spade out or turning a slope into a set of drop offs.
Failing dip stupidly bright lights on a 10 foot wide gravel track is another.
