Now then. i’m thinking of getting some hope wheels built for this.

do you think “gunsmoke” would look out of place with the trans-red? I’m certain i don’t want anything garish (like red, blue or especially not GOLD!) and i’m thinking i like the look of silver spokes. so should i go for gunsmoke or stick to black/silver? I’m sure i’ll be able to choose when it comes to the crunch but thought someone might have experience/pics of said colour.

Firstly, may I congratulate you on your choice of frame.

Gunsmoke would be my choice, as long as it’s not too “bluey”.

    Black – gunsmoke matches nothing.

It’s complementing colours we are after here, and I do believe gunsmoke fits the bill. My Heckler is buff naked polished finish, so I think i’m stuck with black myself unless I fancy some major spendage.

I just noticed, I think I may need to change my log in name… I quite like sodafarts though, it has a certain…effervescence

i would love it if hope did a matt grey instead of silver. i’d be well up for that.

hmm, don’t know about that…I have the “silver”, ie rough polished, bb and headset spacers, quite like them. Having seen the trans red SC colour in the flesh a couple of years back though, i think gunsmoke is what you really want. Matt grey would look a bit “shimano ” in my estimation…

All my hope hubs are gunsmoke – it’s the only colour I would consider. Might be able to see them in these pics:

it is – it’s anodized grey – slightly lighter than the fox fork grey. Certainly no blue tint to them at all.

i thought gunsmoke was more of a blueish colour

It’s a shame they don’t do the pewter any more.

i believe what you have there PK, is a grey hope hub. gunsmoke is a slight blue-grey

    I’ll let you believe that.

However, I know it’s gunsmoke, as is the rear, as is the Pro2 rear I have, which is also the same colour. Hope have never made anodised grey as far as I’m aware.

Hope used to do a colour called “Gun Metal” which was like a metallic grey

the new colour “Gun Smoke” is a sort of…off blueish colour.

Chris King Pewter is the best colour for hubs after Mango.

    gunsmoke if you ask me

the old gun metal was pretty grey, but the colour kept varying from batch to batch iirc, so they canned it for gunsmoke. there is a blue tinge, but it goes well with fox forks in general, and looks pretty sweet.

not overly ‘look at me’, but a bit more interesting!

that chris king pewter is lovely. wonder how long they stay that shiny for when you’re wading through hub-high mud and sludge? I can see this is going to be a tough decision!
