What the hell was King Rollo about?!

I can’t decide if being so mental makes it the best or the worst…

I remember being about seven years old and going out to my Dad’s garage in the garden and finding this…..

My Dad was transporting it to a car show (at Ingliston… I think) and had picked it up from Dave Lee Travis who bought it after the show finished.

Best: Grange Hill, Jossie’s Giants, Terrorhawks, Mysterious Cities of Gold, He Man, Thundercats, the chocolate biscuit factory episode of Bagpuss, A-Team, Dukes of Hazzard, Round the Twist, Saved by the Bell.

Worst: Got to be something like Jackanory (very boring as a kid) or any programme aimed at girls.

Shall we just agree that “best” was “anything by Cosgrove Hall”?

I never really got one with any of the live-action “children’s dramas.” Grange Hill, Press Gang, Children’s Ward, Byker Grove, Jossie’s Giants and all the rest. They bored me to tears, struggling to remember one I actually liked. Oh, unless you count the Look & Read serials like The Boy From Space, that was ace.

The dog-based dramas (Littlest Hobo and Lassie) always made me cry, especially if the dog loyally and heroically fought something to protect its master.

see also Belle & Sebastian, Graham – sniff, sniff, waaah.

Forgot about Joe 90. My son stills loves that series…

Best – Round the Twist (Australia’s greatest cultural export) followed by Knightmare, Charlie Chalk and Albert the Fifth Musketeer.

Worst – Playschool when it was the puppet on the climbing frame.

I think it was more aimed at people with no real sense of cynicism or darkness. I

You’re avin a bubble, ain’t ya? Burt and Ernie are a gay Jack Lemmon and Walter Mattau.

Big Bird did a special in China (back when no one knew anything about China). He is on his own, lost and meets a little girl, asking her “hey, little girl, do you speak American?”. She replies perfectly “no, but I speak English”. Big Bird pauses, tilts his head to the side, shrugs and then says “okay, I guess that will do” and continues the conversation. Comedy gold!
