My parents had a Mk1 MR2 and 1st time I was allowed to drive it was on the way to the airport to fly out to Oz. Came round a corner to be greeted by a road full of sheep. Managed to avoid all but one which I rolled into at very little mph. The poor thing rolled up the bonnet, rolled off again and walked off unscathed.. 😀
Great little car but took ages to get used to indicators being where the wiper stalk should be 😳

I absolutely love Audi A5’s, I think their proportions and lines are perfect. There’s a black one that’s usually parked down inside road near where I live, no identifying badges on it at all, just a pair of zorst pipes out the back, so I assume it’s an S-Line, but it’s very subtle.

I think the proportions are all wrong; to my eyes they look really, really bloated and a lot less sleek than BMW’s take on a coupes (4 series aside which doesn’t look right to me).

I think the E46 M3 was a great looking car, and much prettier than the following models. The arches etc give it enough menace / presence without silly wings and spoilers.

The Z4 coupe is a great looking car even if it is odd to drive being sat so far back.

The B5 RS4 is still a great looking car; it’s old now but still looks ‘proper’. One of the partners at work had one till recently and it looked lovely. I adore the following B7 too even though it is less subtle.

One of my mates had a Toyota Crown chewkw, we used to call it the train. Because it felt like you were travelling in one.

Is that good or bad? 😀

My uncle used to have a much older version (in the 70s) of that Toyota Crown in the far east many years ago and it was very comfortable as far as I can recall.

Me mate parents got this Datsun Gloria saloon which we “gangster” ride it whenever we could … very comfortable too.

I also like 90s Nissan Cefiro and I think is very elegant .. very smooth engine.

Klunk, my brother had a Series 1 Fulvia 1.3 Rallye S, fantastic to drive. Unfortunately it went the way of most of them-rotten front subframe which was at the time uneconomic to repair. I think he regrets to this day selling it for spares/panels. Now, it would be worth doing.

It looked just like this one-same colour, same age but RHD

I see it (the A5) as a grown up response to something like a Camaro. As in, this is how grown ups do it. Smart, understated and stylish.

    BadlyWiredDog,

The Alpine a110 is a lovely car, costs a pretty penny for a good one now though.

That’s because the Ferrari 250GT SWB, in that blue is probably considered a supercar and therefore doesn’t count

Shoot me down in flames, but I don’t like E-types that much.

Some variants were better than others, but they were all way too high off the ground, way too long, and the windscreen always looked awkward. The lightweight coupe’s and the open racers were the only ones that looked good.

I hate e-types, more I dislike the owners.

This thread set out to be a thread for “real world” cars, not supercars or pretenders to the marque.

I see no mini’s here, they in their day were super cars, a design icon then and now.
    So, heres one.

Image is too dark to tell but I really hope there is a machine gun fitted in that space to the left of the headlight 😀

they were asking 70k for this 😯

    Klunk,
That’s because the series 1 1600HF’s (fanalone) can be used in FIA historic rallying and command a big premium, £70k is not expensive apparently!

That is a very nice mini.
I like original mini not the BMW ones …

If I have mini the engine will be a 1.6 Honda V-Tec engine … 😛

The Audi S2 coupe is still one of my favourite cars, I wish I still had my old one.
