Oh but… “got a shitty attitude when it was pointed out that an industrial bearing manufacturer knows a shitload more than he does about how much grease is appropriate” in the 2nd thread, talk about missing the point. The half-fill is usually specced for speed and lifespan in a clean environment, so yes if you fill ’em up it’s a Bad Thing normally. But pushiron bearings don’t tend to fail because they’ve had a long and fruitful life, they fail because they’re full of crap. More grease = less crap. We spin them very slow, for not huge durations, through swamps so the downside of the overpack is reduced and the benefit is increased.
Just for giggles, one time when I replaced bearings in a pro 2, I packed extra waterproof grease into one side, and left the other standard- both identical SKF. Was not surprised when the standard one went crunchy first.
