I have owened a gt full sus since the redisgined idrive4 first apperared in 2004 and i shall tell you of my experiance and see if you think its either just coincedence or a sign of bad quality control.
The first frame lasted all of about 4 weeks when it was descovered that a space on the main piviot was missing causing the swing arm and frame to rub on each other. That got re-placed under warrenty. The next frame had a banging sound when the shox extened at first the shox was suspected but it turned out that the mount for th edog ling was in ther wrong place causing the bb shell to hit the swing arm so that one got replaced. All was fine with the new one for a bout 16 months untill i found a crack on the under side of the top tube. This was also replaced. Again this one was fine for about 16 months when i found a crack in the same place as last time. The frame was replaced but i was told that this was the last time that they would replace it. I had lost faith in the frame by now so sold the new one and bought an id5 as the frame as very different. Well i have had that for about 9 months now and have found out that the swing arm doesn’t line up with the fram properly and that the shox is also slightly to one side. This has cuased wear on the shox, i also found that the main piviot bolt was crossthreaded when the bike was made.
So do you think that i am just unlucky and happen to have just got the bad ones or that their QC is lacking?

You’re very unlucky I think. But then I’ve always liked GT for their hardtails, not their full sus’s – we had so many complaints about them when they first came out that I never looked at a GT full sus again!

For GT to say they wouldnt replace your original frame again is rubbish. Each one of your frames has failed due to a manuf defect, not misuse, therefore they should replace it AGAIN. With that many probs i really wouldn’t have considered another GT given your bad experiences. BUT they are still liable for any frame issues under warranty.
